When we're judging others, Dr. Maury Joseph, a psychologist in Washington, D.C., says we must consider the context of their actions.
"If a person makes the only choice available to them, based on their developmental history, the prejudices of the country in which they were born, and their current environment, does that make them bad?" Joseph asks.
Everyone has a backstory that explains why they act a certain way. Can we convict them without it? Let's do a test.
Here's a list of situations in which the internet (most notably, this subreddit) thought individuals proved themselves to be rotten from the inside. Upvote the ones you agree with and let's see if there are deeds that don't need the context Maury Joseph was talking about to earn you some pretty nasty labels.

Hunted around to many psychologists and finally someone who said his problems weren't their fault, but that it was because he - at age 11 - was gay. He had an ulcer at age 12 and any time his stomach got bad, they'd not let him consume any food or liquids. He ended up in the hospital dehydrated about 5 times.) If he had said f**k it and stolen their card to buy himself some gifts after the cassette tape thing, I think I would have said "Good for you. I hope you don't get into trouble."

I've told this story before but this collection of the worst of humanity brought it to mind again. About 10 years ago, I was homeless and sleeping in a tent. I would hide it by a wooded area on some parkland and return when night fell to set it up. One night I arrived, found my tent at the same spot I had left it and started to put it up. That's when it became clear that someone had carefully slit long holes all along it, rendering it useless. Some people had obviously seen me take the tent down and stash it, and they thought it would be hilarious not only to destroy my home, but to be sly and wreck it unobtrusively and put it back, just to further mess with me. Not ashamed to say I cried like a baby that night lol. All faith in humanity was destroyed. For a long time
