Brecht Vandenbroucke is a Belgium-based artist who illustrates the darker side of modern society. His subjects are varied but his work often revolves around one central theme, namely looking at the world from an alternative and often satirical perspective. Whether he's highlighting people's obsessions with social media and technology, emphasizing our habits of following the crowd, or graphically depicting the inevitable cycle of violence that plagues our species, his illustrations act as thought-provoking commentaries on the modern world around us.

What is right in front of you like an actual real problem you don't want to see or deal, but we also are afraud to enjoy the bigger picture because we like to see them through other peoples eyes or even in a virtual way. The " park " is right in front of you, go and enjoy that or make a difference by helping, you' re choice!

I've learned since social media became mainstream, that people pretend well. I know many people who base their self worth on the number of likes they get, who pretend to have the perfect marriage, the perfect children, and the perfect life, when the reality is far from that. And people see those posts and aspire to have it, but they don't realize it doesn't exist! I read an article that said the people who post declarative statements of love for their partners on social media, are THE MOST insecure in their relationships. If people put more energy into their relationships as they do convincing others their lives are perfect, perhaps they'd be a lot happier in those relationships. Just something I've noticed....take it with a grain of salt.

You say that like people didn't do that before social media! That's basically part of the human condition! There's always been a lot of people who want to look like they're the best while hiding their darker or inferior sides.

Well, what else does matter then? I think this is overly technology critical. Not all people will be scientists or philosophers, authors or politicans, who will have an idealistic inheritance. If social media ist fun for you, why not get into it, as long as you do not get lost in it? After all, what matters is that you have done more good than harm at the point you are buried!

Spending time with the real people in your life you see that life is Beautiful when experienced in real time and not through an Instagram filter, though, admittedly, I do find instagram fun at times!

I don't consider myself a cruel person who laughs at domestic abuse, but this one just kind of made me snort. I think it's overly-clichéd and the silhouettes in the window look less like a legitimate fight and more like some kind of odd interpretive dance.

It's almost like we live in a world now, where if it's not documented on social media, it didn't happen. 20 years ago no one felt the need to advertise to the world they were at a concert, a restaurant, a movie, etc. Now its a compulsion.

Are you sure they didn't feel the need? Maybe they were very loud and proud about it at school... They just didn't have the means to literally tell the world like we do today.... Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying what you say is wrong, I'm just inviting you to think deeper. Because I grew up in an era where social media was yet on its way to be built and had a taste of both a world with and without it.

I know we're to look at this like the blind man is the only one who isn't worried about photos, he's just taking in the music and enjoying the moment, which is great! But I can't help but think that sitting next to all those speakers/amps. he's is also going to be hearing impaired.

one who is blind is able to enjoy the concert by listening and feeling the good vibrations of sound. He may not be able to see with his eyes but he can see the point of the concert better than those that have all their senses, or so it seems considering the only way these people are willing to watch a concert is through their phones. Perhaps they are more blind than the blind for taking their sight for granted like that.

Been there, done that. And the stupid looks you get when you take several storeys by foot, to arrive at the same time with the people who glanced at you through the closing elevator doors: priceless. I actually have been asked whether I am "afraid" of elevators and escalators after walking a single stair instead of joining the crowded elevator.

I hate escalators. I like to walk up stairs, but when there's no stairs there's an escalator and people will just stand there and some will block you from getting by. If you can't use the stairs then use the elevator.

For me, it depends on how many stairs there are. When going up. When going down, I'm fine. I'm working on the 18th floor, and I know that, with the condition I (don't) have, ot would take me as long to climb up as it takes me to wait my turn at the lift.

The use of social media as a politicaL platform is unhealthy. The nature of social media does not allow for reflective thought and carefully considered responses or statements. Everyone needs to be first with a story or first to strike controversy without caring whether they can back it up with truth. I have seen some very intelligent people fall prey to this.

When your offline you don't have to worry about the dangers of online dangers and you can go outside, enjoy the day with your family.

Though if the U.S. republican party is any indication, sometimes people will line up, not to be told directly "f**k you", but to be f****d nonetheless.

This is either depicting that teachers underestimate how smart kids are, or it's depicting how complex classes are due to some kids developing and learning faster than others and those kids will present themselves in such ways. Since schools have that "no child left behind" thing going, I have to wonder if they are also preventing kids from skipping grades.

For me it is a bit of both. Teachers need to see to the individual, I believe both faster and slower learners suffer in the current system.

Well, the problem is you're selling elaborate coffins in this day and age. Too expensive! And the person's dead! They don't need it! Cremation has gotten significantly more popular. I would also recommend investing in natural burial methods - with any luck they'll be next to catch on. (Yeah, yeah, not the point, I know.)

I think he's actually making a statement about capitalism and marketing. Advertising takes a concept and proliferates it into every area of life. It isn't about healthy lifestyles being good or bad, it's about how money can be made off of it.

I think those sailors play important role. We can see the stripper as monser, like chimere. But it might actually a phenomenon like nymph or mermaid. They seduce man, looking like beautiful maidens, but in fact they are eventually killing them. Thus the sailors.
