This 5-Month-Old Puppy Needs Her Leg Amputated After A Tragic Accident – Her Family Can’t Afford The Surgery, But They Refuse To Give Up On Her
When Jazz, a playful 5-month-old Golden Doodle puppy, visited a relative’s home, no one expected tragedy to strike. In a matter of seconds, an unexpected altercation broke out between several dogs and Jazz ended up with a shattered femur. The damage was so severe that the only way to relieve her pain is through a full rear leg amputation.
Her guardian, who describes Jazz as their best friend and constant companion, rushed her to the vet for x-rays and an emergency consult. The news was devastating, with results showing surgery is urgent, and the estimated cost is $4,000. Without the funds or eligibility for care credit, Jazz’s person faced an impossible choice.
That’s when Famous Fido Rescue, a Chicago-based no-kill shelter, stepped in.
“We see cases like this all too often. Good people down on their luck, with animals they love dearly,” said Gloria Lissner, founder of Famous Fido Rescue. “Our mission isn’t just about taking animals in. It’s about keeping families together when they’re doing everything they can to do right by their companions.”
Jazz’s guardian is contributing what they can toward her surgery, but the cost is far beyond their means. Famous Fido Rescue is now urgently fundraising to cover the remaining bill. They’re asking for help from animal lovers everywhere because no puppy should suffer in pain, and no one should lose their best friend just because they’ve hit hard times.
