New tastes are perhaps one of the top things one seeks when traveling, as an opportunity to try out new and unusual dishes is always so exciting. Everyone knows that you should try pizza in Italy and sushi in Japan. However, there are plenty of countries that leave us guessing as to what tasty foods they have to offer. Well, a food map called TasteAtlas has got you covered with the 30 world maps that showcase some of the best local foods on this planet. From Asian cuisine to American dishes, the maps offer an in-depth look at various cuisines from all around the globe. It showcases not only the age-old classics known to all but smaller and less-known delicacies from countries that aren’t in the spotlight (yet might have hidden gems). Scroll down below to explore the world atlas of taste and see what it has to offer or try navigating their food map yourself here.

Share on FacebookThis isn't too accurate... Peameal bacon sandwiches are a just a stereo type and something you generally only see at a fall fair or something in southeast Ontario.... And my wife is from northern Baja Mexico and Caesar salad??? More like fish tacos
Americans call peameal bacon "Canadian" and some are genuinely flummoxed when they order bacon and eggs and get...bacon. I remember when I worked in a diner (a VERY long time ago) and having to explain that if they'd wanted ham they should have ordered it. *sigh*
Load More Replies...As a crazy food lover and an Indian, I most DEFINITELY recommend Momos. Don't go to a restaurant and eat them, you have to go to the streetside stalls and eat them freshly made. They are delicious!
I skipped lunch today and now I am regretting viewing this gallery.
Load More Replies...I really only clicked on this post to check whether or not "Skyline Chili" was listed for Ohio. It was not, and I can sleep well tonight.
Same! As an Italian Texas expat I have a hard time liking something that doesn't quite constitute as chili or spaghetti. I will however devour a slab of goetta as long as I remain ignorant to its ingredients.
Load More Replies...How do you get a Kiwi and an Aussie to fight each other? Ask them which country invented the pavlova. If you wanna add fuel to the fire, ask about Russell Crowe and Phar Lap. Blood may be shed. Consumption of alcohol is not recommended.
Load More Replies...Mexico has a wide variety of dishes, it's a shame they only show a few.
Yeah, but the potatoes and the gravy are so good on their own, that you don't need stegt flæsk!
Load More Replies...That and street crepes. Consider that the sandwich is beautifully cured and cut ham on a baguette that came of of the oven less than two hours earlier. French cultured butter is some of the best on the planet. So yes. A sandwich and an espresso will keep you going all afternoon.
Load More Replies...Surely some typical dishes from various countries and regions. Definately not the best but that's probably difficult for the creator of these pictures...
OMG all that cheese! I really think they're addictive, I couldn't see anything else. I wanna eat them all.
I'm from Bulgaria and I've never even heard of that "chomlek" dish, like EVER in my life for 40 years. This whole post looks like somebody paid for some advertising in bored panda...
the same stuff about Indigirka salad. And I lived in Ural mountains for rather long to hear of it at least once
Load More Replies...What on Earth is "fricot"? I'm a quebecer and never heard of it. Must be a regional thing but I'd be curious to learn more about it.
I'm a Quebecer also, on the Ontario boarder, and I haven't heard of fricot or peameal sandwich (but I've had peameal on it's own or on a hamburger).

No Central America at all?!? Casado. Patacones. Platano maduro Meaty chicharrons. Gallo pinto! Fried cheese. What gives?
Souvlaki and moussaka? Really people? Don't we have here in Greece other delicacies than these clichés dishes?
Why is North America only the USA, Canada has good food too.

I'm jamaican and they left soooooo much out :'). Our Rice and peas with fried chicken and curry gravy, our callaloo/cabbage/pak choi stew with irish potatoes, carrots pepper tomatoes and lots more. The mackerel stew with boiled dumplins , bananas, yam and sweet potatoes. And sooo much more. Im 16 and i know how to prepare all those dishes.
I live in Wisconsin and we don't really eat "Fish Fry" we have a lot of cheese curds and milkshakes though!
I really love the fact, that they didn`t just use one typical Russian dish, like pelmeni, but actually showed dishes that are common for different regions of Russia, cause Russia is huge and doesn`t consist just of Moscow or it`s European part :)
I cant believe Wales got Faggots but not Welsh cakes,Laver bread or Bara brith also the cheese bit come on the UK has hundreds of cheeses! and dont even get me started on sausages cumberland ring anyone?!!
Missing from the Australian list are sausage rolls, chico rolls, and the Aussie pub classic (even though it's Italian...) chicken parmisana. For dessert there's a choice of vanilla slices, fairy bread, Iced Vovos, chocolate crackles, finger buns, and a strange type of cake that only seems to be eaten in Victoria, and the name of which currently escapes me (perhaps the other Australians here can help?). On the serious side, we do have some stunningly good resaurants - and our beers, wines, and whiskies are world-beating.
Icelander speaking: WTF adding Hákarl to the map? Thats the worst taste in the world! Poisonous arctic shark fermented and rotten in its urin! Seriously? Who made this jusy went on stereotypes. We have much more delicious foods in Iceand than just that two disgusting creepy ones.
well, in the other slides he called i "specialties", not the tastiest food
Load More Replies...They are like meatballs made of offal and pork or beef mince. You have them with mash and peas, or chips peas and gravy.
Load More Replies...Brazil has a lot of other nice food. An the "churrasco" (Barbecue) is in the wrong region (it should be at the South - Argentina and Uruguay made the difference). It should have "vaca atolada", "pão de queijo" and the humongous table that Minas Gerais' people use to have, in ALL meals...
They missed our restaurant Paltzerian in Piteå, northen Sweden! All sorts of boiled, big grey lumps, looks awful but stuffed with different delicious fillings. The worlds only Palt Restaurant 🙂
