Young girls in dark dresses with black hair around their doll-like faces - these are the main characters of Italian illustrator who creates surreal drawings with a touch of horror.
Virginia Mori, 36, lives and works in Pesaro and Milan, Italy. Her favorite media are pencil, ink, and ballpoint pen on paper. The artist gain following because of her unique, dark and surreal style and imagery. "I can’t say how I arrived at this style," Virginia told to stylenochaser. "It has been a long and slow journey filled with a lot of research, but everything came very naturally, in a very instinctive way. I just followed what I like to do."
Artist's illustrations often have a melancholic or the nightmarish feel to them. "I am not trying to explain anything with certainty with my art. I just want to suggest strange feelings and situations in a metaphoric way."
Below you can find some of her works. Which one is your fave?

Well you can only lose a foot at a time or both feet at the same time... either way you can't get sick of losing feet cuz it only can happen once ;)
Load More Replies...Instead of double Dutch, this is double ouch.......pretty corny......
the girl is sitting in a very cat-like manner, with a cat sitting on top of her? my best guess
Load More Replies...Even curled up in a ball reading with the cat on your shoulder like I do.
There's no writing on the pages, there's a black mess on her back pretending to be a cat......Ive got nothing......lol. A for effort?
Now this really happens all thee time. My cat is very clingy. Head, lap, shoulders, etc.
Well, the cat only has whiskers on one side. I don't know if that is surreal, but it's the only unusual thing I noticed.
Oh the way she's sitting instead of using the comfort of a tall backed chair...... irony maybe
I do not know why this one made me laugh then again I'm reminded of the Addams Family children.
When you give birth to a child giving birth to a child giving birth to a child giving birth...
Damn, this one looks like the complement to Junji Ito's "My Dear Ancestors". WIN_201803...26dae4.jpg
These are very nice pictures. :) I remember that many years ago I used to follow a deviantART user misskeima and she had also similar dark themed black&white drawings. Sadly she got some health issues and she stopped drawing. But it is great to find other talented artists with a similar style. :) https://misskeima.deviantart.com/gallery/
Extreme sleep paralysis is what this makes me think of. I get it sometimes and it's really a weird feeling.
Again my cat, this is vhow heavy she feels after anights sleep(or at least trying to sleep).
I wonder if it means anything that all the other legs have long pants and different shoes than hers/the front legs..? If they're not all "her legs" in a sense, it feels uncomfortably vulnerable, feeling like you can't get away, no privacy, aren't allowed to control the direction of your own body. That's what I get from it anyway.
Is this condemning education that is too rigid, book-centric, and not enough creativity?
This actually isn’t that bad. Having your face in a book is helpful and peaceful, but the drawing is definitely haunting
Comfortable with your cat in whatever position. Comfy chair, cuddly cat, good book. All is right in the world.
Like the one from last night, so much life wasted...
Load More Replies...I hate those girls who are like “OMG I love ur hair! Can I braid it? Is so looong!” And thats the story of why I cut my hair short
My immediate feeling is that father is with a new family, and she's the daughter from divorced family wanting father's attention. My second feeling is this is on the street; the man is a potential predator and girl's face in the window is someone seeing danger.
Serious comment, when I was a kid I often imagined myself like on a set of a television, seing me/us/the others and the surroundings like in a third person, it's like watching and not watching with the eyes, but with the spirit
Load More Replies...Young minds are impressionable and full of possibility. They take on everything. Children need to be treasured and help to develop their beautiful minds. One wrong person can damage that.
My first and only thought was Alice bit too much of that "Eat me" pie or whatever it was that made her larger again:P It reminds me of the illustration to that scene from my Alice in Wonderland book.
This makes me think of all the different "selves" we project for different people, in an attempt to hide and protect the real inner self.
Makes me think of that game where you roll the ball between your legs, all the way down to the last person

Humans are stop the natural flow of things. The River. The trees. Impeding nature. Our importance is big than nature's.
Ooo. This one's beautiful. Not haunting at all imo, I'd draw it in colour and call it Mother Nature or something ^^
Sam!!! I really wish she would have joined the troupe. I liked her more than Melina and the blind brothers

An Ariana Grande concert... Or many Louises from Bob's Burgers...
"And this, kids, is why we don't throw paper airplanes. Any questions?"
If you do not like Ariana Grande... She will find you... And she will kill you.
This is literally me... I love to read book like that and my cat play with my hair
I just noticed her feet and I am now hiding under my bed... While being eaten by creatures of the night.
I can hear Gloria Estefan singing, "The rhythm is gonna get'cha"
Being played by people like you’re something they want to hear and that they can just turn on and off...
I think I read about someone who did that literally. They wanted to...let's say cosplay I guess?...being executed by a guillotine(obviously without the actual execution part) and got a real guillotine for that which they put at their bed(I think) and well...it worked better than they expected somehow. She really got decapitated. I honestly don't know what to say to that, on one hand, what an awful and stupid way to die, on the other...well...Darwin's law?
That's a sweet one :) Sleep sets your mind free, letting it wander away to magical worlds.
this would be a great illustration in a kids book about a child witch who loves to read.
Yes it is. When you are growing and your bones want to stretch or scream and you just want to read, the body will adjust again and again.

So creative! I love the concept. Her illustrations of water though somewhat annoy me on account of their synthetic appearance, but it's still cool.
Oh, nooo. This one will get me for sure. (I've had nightmares of tsunamis.)
I cannot understand what I'm reading, I'm drowning here and need help in this class.

Symbol : dropping a flag during football halftime, stopping on the correct line and everyone else chooses the other to step on leaving you standing alone. Forgetting your lines in a play and you just freeze up. I only experienced one. I have noticed others out of step and just freeze. I just hope this has happened to EVERYONE at least once so they can feel the horror that goes on in you.
"Oh very funny Charley, just you wait till I get you back in the stable , you are such a jerk on my day aren't you Charley...
Blood actually tastes quite good. It is rich, salty and slightly thick, but not too thick to make it weird.

Her melancholic and nightmarish illustrations echo the same evocative vibes that can be seen in Kazuaki Horitomo's cat art brand, where the blend of Japanese tattooing and feline grace generates a fantastical narrative.
