70 Surreal And Meaningful Illustrations By Lisa Aisato
Lisa Aisato is a well-known artist and author for children’s books in Norway. Her career started back in 2008 and since then she has released a few of her own books as well as illustrated for other authors too. Her work has also been posted in various publications, magazines, etc.
Lisa’s style is very unique: her watercolor-like illustrations convey the simple beauty of life, reminding us of important things such as love, family and friendship. Aisato’s art is captivating in the best way possible, and more often than not, her works convey the feelings of being carefree and positive.
Bored Panda reached out to Lisa to find out a little bit more.
"I’ve been drawing all my life, of course, and my drawing has always been closely connected with literature. When I was a child, my mother read aloud to me and my sister a lot and I was constantly drawing while listening to her. As an adult, I frequently listen to audiobooks and podcasts while working. I think the fact that I continued drawing when most children quit, maybe around the age of 10, helped me develop my skills beyond the average. I remember I learnt the word 'illustrator' at the age of 13 and wrote in a school essay that I wanted to become one when I grew up."

"Most of my work is inspired by different texts. I have worked with book, newspaper and magazine illustrations for 13 years.
I’m a good observer of people, that’s probably the most important part of my work. I have to be able to depict human emotion and communicate subtle moods and atmosphere to tell a story with only a picture, and to add meaning and value to the text I’m illustrating. And sometimes I’m just inspired by an old man walking in the rain, a woman’s beautiful profile with a wonderful crooked nose that I see on the subway, or my son looking at a butterfly. I get inspired by the little things in our everyday life."

This is love... sweet and enduring love. When we were young and loving hard, our breadth was the whole world, when we grew in that love, our world became our respite, now as we stand, in the garden of our love, and we go,d each other, I smell the flowers, and verdant life we had, the blooming love we grew, and the peaceful and loving garden, we will always remain in, this, is our love. KLL 2021.

My mom had Alzheimers before she passed and this is such a painfully beautiful and touching to the point my eyes are leaking image. The sums up exactly how I felt - being her protector, but losing her as she lost her memories. Tears. Beautiful.

Reminds me of Australia and swimming at the beach....you walk in the rain, shop in the rain, and swim in the rain.....just tiny spring showers, but warm

It's like I was saying earlier, some people rely so much on social media. It's sad that some people crave random stranger's attention so much that they go to great lengths to get that attention.

These are ever so beautiful. LOVE THIS STYLE OF ART. So many of them I would love to frame. So many feelings in each and every one of these. I love how she can paint bodies and faces so wonderfully. On of my favorites is the little dark skinned girl with the sunflower. Lovely, just lovely.

Honestly, I didn't expect much. I was blown away! The only thing wrong with this is that my 'nice stuff' folder is getting too full! They were awesome and I'm saving a lot of them, especially the book ones! Keep up the great(ly phenomenal) work!

Stunning! I possibly understand the interpretation of some of them - but then isn't great art open for interpretation?!?! Made me remember my childhood for some reason....absolutely beautiful!
