In 2010, illustrator Alex Noriega was having some problems at work and so he started a blog as a way to figure out where he was going wrong. "I wanted to put on paper all that I had learned in life as simple as possible and try to see if what was happening around me made any sense," he says. Although it didn't help him to make sense of anything, it did however lead to this beautiful series of illustrations.
His blog is called Stuff No One Told Me (SNOTM for short), but while Alex may have learned life's lessons the hard way, he's making it easy for the rest of us by teaching us everything we need to know. His illustrations range from sobering reminders of things we often overlook in life to useful nuggets of zen-like wisdom to help us to become more conscientious humans. Take a look for yourself, and don't say no one told you.

Can I share this article and not have the "women are as horny as men" as front page? this page is full of wisdom and then that... :/
Pretty sure this page is plagiarized from the Sunscreen song. Or at least VERY VERY closely plagiarized. Nice try, dude.
That's not always the case... I've had some bosses (and coworkers that moonlight as backstabbers) who kept track of everything from whether you were 30 seconds late to your desk (even if there's a raging blizzard outside) to how many times you use the bathroom in a day.
With all that sneaking and spying.. I wonder how them self get anything else done. People can be very nasty..
Load More Replies...Well, I've outlived all the relatives that used to, and retired from my job where they watched the clock and our work like HAWKS (I understand it's even worse now. They count computer keystrokes to monitor efficiency!) so for me, for now, it's true. But, sadly, for 67 years, there were definitely people keeping track! So if it's true for Mr. Noriega, I'm very happy for him.
You don't have to live with spiders. Just your fear of spiders.
Load More Replies...You can get rid of your fears - if you feed your faith in God, you will starve your fears to death. Something I read today, which from my experience is so true! The more I trust in God, the less I fear from this world.
Maybe you just cant have enough faith in yourself so you choose something non-existent. You're the real thing. #DifferentPerspective

I think it's mostly a sign of confidence. Everyone has ideas, most people consider their own ideas dumb and let it end there, creative people believe and let them flow
Imagination and being publicly creative (ie an illustrator) are quite different. There are tons of people with great imagination who lack confidence and do not share it with the rest of the world.
Load More Replies...Unfortunately our education system squelched imagination in most of us. Follow the rules, Do as everyone else does, don't get out of line. I have learned to color outside the lines, and I'm lovin' it!
People have always told me that... the problem is figuring out how to harness both imagination and intelligence and turn it into something you can actually support yourself with!
it's a sign that the Pineal gland works fine :).. intelligence is not an asset that determines imagination or vice-versa .. it is an activity of the right hemisphere, which a lot of autistic people or even slightly r******d ones proved a immense artistic capacity and wonderful imagination..

Yes. I'm a horrible person with a great job and with a horrible salary. I actually don't see any relation between any of those.
In real life nobody cares how nice a person you are, they just care how much money make for them today.
I hope you really do have someone to laugh with you without being high in order to do so.

This is so true... sadly, that person for me was my hubby, Eph, and he passed away in 2014. There hasn't been much to laugh about since... or anyone to share those rare laughs with.
Generalities are generally a bad idea. And BONERS? Nah, just sticky britches.
Of course we are, we are human. so stupid and so sexist of you guys to think that. Society shapes woman as weak, sweet object that can t take care of themselves and just have to look good and not be rude. But as you men, we are human, we fart, we stink we are rude, every morning we s**t, sometimes we don t get waxed and sometimes we are not beautiful and that is normal, we are human being for god sakes, stop treating us like we are some special species!
Very sexist of you to think that all man are the same just because their are man.
Load More Replies...Not really, it's much easier for men to get aroused (in general). It sucks, but most women need more than just a covered a*s on the subway to actually get aroused.

This is a fantastic one, it took me a long time to realise that STUFF can be replaced, time and people can't.
Unless you broke as all hell. Then some things you somewhat have to get attached to cause that way you protect them more :/
Load More Replies...Spend less money on stuff and more on experiences. They last longer.
OMG!!! The more you let go, the better it feels. And the easier it is to let go of even more!
Nothing wrong with liking things. Very fashionable to repeat things and slogans you do not understand. Very similar to : When you die you take nothing with you and not very smart to care sbout things. Well,... Both are wrong. NOTHING WRONG WITH LIKING THINGS SINCE THIS LIFE IS BASICALLY THE ONLY TIME WHEN YOU CAN EXPERIENCE THINGS BECSUSE,.... When you die, you cannot take anything with you. You cannot take a good camera, you cannot take good food , you cannot take a mountain peak or nice piece of jeans. So experience everything in the Now. You might did tomorrow and your savings will be spent by others.
Don't get too attached to anything because there is nothing permanent .... except change
This is an easy one to throw around, but the truth of the matter is that things mean a heck of a lot less when you have the money to easily repair/replace them. Trust me, I've been on both sides of the spectrum. Things are a lot less vitality important now that I have the money to replace said things. Before, when that wasn't the case and something broke, it was downright panic attack inducing. This is one of those popular sentiments that's usually spouted by someone who has never really had to do without.
This is an art I really need to master, or at least get better at...
This is mostly true... although there are a few key items that I will always buy the brand of (Advil - for the coating to protect my stomach, Bounty towels, Nestle Quik and Folgers or Maxwell House coffee) - but for bigger purchases (appliances, clothing, accessories, shoes, etc), I'm not impressed by brand names at all.
Oh, I almost forgot the other brand name I stick with - Kraft Mac & Cheese. It really is the best! I've tried store brands, but their pasta is very poor quality.

Now I REALLY want to life in a world where bunny hats are hot trend
I was actually knitting one A few years ago. It's still unfinished somewhere. I'll Have to finish it! Bunnies!!!! Maybe I'll start a trend you all can ignore. :)
Load More Replies...Omg.. I saw that as so much more sinister! I saw bunnies wearing people's bodies as clothes... and was like wtf? Hahahah
I never pay any attention to fashion trends. I can't afford to. Most of the clothes I own I've had for years, and when I do buy something new, it's usually at Walmart or KMart... not exactly a fashion hub, lol. I avoid malls like the plague too!!
Yup, skinny leg slacks are IN, but I wore a slightly flared suit on a plane recently and got many compliments. As you older care less and less.
Any lack of it will be your worst enemy! Truth is in the 'beauty sleep'.

Load More Replies...I think it meant that everyone in the world are different. You are the only one and so are the others. Do not always compare you with other people
Aspir Befreier, entre an art museum, you'll realize that skinny was not always the perfection. Being fat was beautiful for a long time, when skinny meant you had nothing to eat, and fat meant you were wealthy. It is still the case in some countries... And not every fat people are fat because they are lazy, there are plenty of different reasons to be fat, not all of them can be solved with diet and exercise unfortunately. But calling fat people lazy will certainly not help them to feel better...
I do not care one whit about what people think about my physical appearance. I have a friend who is considered very beautiful. She calls it a cures because no one looks past her physical beauty to see the truly beautiful person beneath her skin.

TOTALY how boring would the world be if everybody was exact duplicates of each other?
I think that when I see people wearing black from head to toe in the shops. You can tell they are on the way to or from work or on their lunch breaks. Work uniforms tend to be black these days even the tunics that beauticians and beauty consultants wear. Where there's no uniform who says you have to wear a black suit or dress.
Load More Replies...What is normal And what nut job defined it?!? And why do I have to follow your definition of normal?
No, they aren't... but they do tend to influence the way you see the world, your ability to trust others, etc.
They are in my family. We stick together, work through it together and hopefully solve it together.
So true! My family is a good one, but we are many, you can't take on everyone's problems.
If my own family's problems aren't mine, then who's problems are they??
Actually, I sent my kid to school to learn to read, write, do arithmetic, etc.... I expected him to learn about life at home.
This is one reason I home school my sons. They are not trapped in the classroom. We take many nature hikes, visit museums, art galleries, the zoo and many others. Sitting reading it out of a book is much more boring than seeing it first hand!
Surgery. Skyscrapers. The national budget. Learning by doing, while great, is only one part of education. We can and must also learn through structured means. Or are you ready to be under the knife with someone who hasn't learned biology basics?
THIS!!!! The edjucation system is a failure. Look at Finland, no homework, much play, art, music, cooking, just beeing a child. And they have the best schools in the world. they care about the kids being happy.
I agree with you, but I'd just add that the key for everything is to do it moderately. There are many parents who fill their children's schedules so much they literally have no time to even get proper sleep. They do it partially because of ambitions, partially because they fear for their kids' future, because of all the competitions and stuff. Not realising that each person needs a little bit of freedom to be successful. So I think this particular entry could apply to those kind od parents.
Load More Replies...Except when they tell you to be racist. Or sexist. Or homophobic. Or to launch a chair into someone's face. Or to follow an idiot. Or to hurt or endanger your children. Or to support a war. Or to believe everything you see on TV. Or to think climate change is fake news because it's cold, right now, where you are. Or... well, you get the picture. People do a lot of stupid things because their instincts tell them so.
I wish there were douche awards. I have a few people in mind that deserved them ;)
I think everyone understands that... there will always be someone worst off than you, but that shouldn't mean you shouldn't be allowed to complain or feel bad ever without feeling guilty. No matter how well off someone might be, they will still have their own problems, get stressed, and need to vent. Feeling inadequate doesn't mean you're not grateful for what you do have
Having been in the depicted situation (minus the pet), I completely get that things could be worse. But since I was recently laid off, and don't have ANY car (in an area where there's little to no public transit), nor can I afford even a very cheap used one right now... a bit of complaining is in order, because in about 4 months, when the unemployment runs out, I may be back in that situation again (this time with 2 cats).
Who says that just because I do not have things that I am unlucky? I have a loving wife, great kids, a roof over my head and no hunger. I AM lucky!
That sounds like something very smart but, in fact, it is NOT. 'Be happy with your s****y job because there are people who have no job' ' be happy that you have both legs because somebody lost his in car accident' 'be happy and grateful that you have food because there are starving children in Africa'... No. Just no. You were lucky so use it. S****y job? Do not 'be happy to have job' do everything to change it! You are not starving but you do not like the food you have everyday? Get some cooking lessons! There are plenty of them, some online courses are free. Never ever you should be just happy because your live could be worse. Always look for ways how to make your life better, easier and happier. There are ways you just have to think. And it is good to ask some friend or family member what they think about your life. Sometimes they can see your problems better then you because you are living inside the problem. And quite often they can provide simple solution.
If you have a roof over your head, food to eat, and clothes on your back, you're richer than you think.
Most people I know don't understand this. Just because I don't like drinking and crazy parties or big social gatherings, doesn't mean I'm not having fun in my life.
People often think I'm bored when I'm actually having fun, and vice versa
This is annoying ...we all have friends like that. And on the rare occasions YOU need a favor from THEM... they are "too busy"
If they are calling me for help, there is no way I'm going to trust their kind of help.
Load More Replies...Or they could be introverts who remember you but didn't bother to call. but needed to call when the time came
There are times though, when it would be nice if someone called ME. Then there are times when I'm not really in the best mood to talk to anyone. So it's a c**p shoot, really.
But... if we did not need anything, we would not be talking to anyone at all.
There is the word " only" in the sentence. It makes all the difference Florian
Load More Replies...I am a "one favor" person. I do one favor. If I ask in return and you are "too busy" or "can't today, any other day but today" you are off my friends list.
Sooo NOT true! Especially the calling part. I prefer talking to people in person, and use texting and calling mostly for when I need something
It's funny how the people over-analyzing this are proving the point of the message.
I've never responded to those 3 wonderful words that way in my life. I hear them too rarely to let anything ruin the moment!!
over analyzing and assumptions are killing person to person communication
This is a good one. I think most people go through that stage where they enjoy calling themselves freaks, thinking they're so much diffrent than everyone else. But really, you're not. You're just as normal as everyone else.
No, you're not. No one is "normal." NoRmAl is a bucket of stereotypes we try to dump on people... If it doesn't stick, we classify them as "The Abnormal." What you need to do is embrace the fact that you ARE different and you need too stop trying to be NoRmAl. I'm not saying it's better to be EXTREMELY weird and try to force difference in your life ( unless necessary). I know it's cliché, but be yourself. If you fit stereotypes, then that's who you are. Be that. Be yourself.
Load More Replies...Actually, I am as weird as I think I am (because I'm honest with myself)... but that's okay with me. I like being different, and I know the people who stick around in my life do so because they've seen the real me and think I'm cool. ;)
In other words, I don't ever have to play the game or put on a mask to get or keep the few true friends I have... they already know the real me, and they chose to stick around anyway. Makes life much easier for all!!
Load More Replies...Listen, DON'T try to out weird me! I get stranger things than you for a prize in my cereal box in the mornings! (Douglas Adams, Hitchhikers Guide Series)

Yeah, because if I have an accident THAT would be the first thing I'd think about, my underwear
I grew up with this saying... but having spent a lot of time in hospitals (as both patient and caregiver/parent), the doctor never sees your underwear anyway. Either you changed in private before the nurse even comes in, or you came in as a trauma and the ambulance guys cut all your clothes off on the way there (happened to me! - even though I could have gotten undressed myself, I wasn't hurt that badly). Oh, and the saying is that you should always wear "CLEAN" underwear... the fancy stuff is for dates. ;)
re the Trauma trip - I was in a car accident and my Jeep flipped onto it's side. I was trapped in it for 45 minutes, which is why they ran the job as a Trauma call. But I was awake the entire time, with no major bleeding or broken bones, and even joking with them. I tried to get them to at least save my jacket, because it was nearly new and expensive, but they said that "the rules" say they have to cut off the clothes. Oh well... in the end, other than bruises and scrapes, my only injury was a fractured vertebrae. I was very lucky... except that it's been 5 years and that vertebrae still causes me problems because it healed pinching a couple of nerves in my spine. But I could've been killed, so in the end, I am lucky to be here to complain about my back pain!
Load More Replies...They mean if you get in an accident and they have to cut your clothes off.

If there's one thing I know for sure, it's that America is NOT perfect by any stretch of the imagination. But I also know things could be a LOT worse (as they are in many other places around the world). So while we must always try ti make this country as "great" as we claim it is... we really do have much to be thankful for as well. Sometimes that's a difficult conundrum to navigate!!
but being born/living in some specific country ARE better than in others. In term of immigration law (how many countries u can visit for free visa as a citizen of the UK for example) and healthcare etc. so its no problem to feel that we are born or live in a better place (doesnt mean we dont care). Stop being so negative, you.
Meaning (to me) that you lack imagination to imagine/create an even better world
“Patriotism is, fundamentally, a conviction that a particular country is the best in the world because you were born in it....” ― George Bernard Shaw

If you are not prepared to be wrong, you'll never come up with anything original. - Not Mine -
Not sure if I totally agree with this. Of course, I'm not running any marathons, so for me, it's about life in general. In my experience, while failure is not an acceptable option, I've learned to be realistic about things, and prepare for the possibility... just in case. ________________________ **My caveat to this would be - "Always have a plan B, C, D, etc... and know where the exits are."
I would think that this is more for the people (like me) who have the issue of "if I dont have 100% chance of winning, it's not worth doing at all). We miss out on a whole lot of opportunities that way. Doing something as if there was no chance of failing is an important thing to remember for me, otherwise it can be crippling.
Load More Replies...Now this is absolutely true... always follow your conscience, and never let anyone bully you into doing something you don't feel is right. Even if it means losing a friend... if they are trying to get you to do wrong, in any way, then they don't care about you that much, and that's not a real friend.
Um, no. this is so wrong. I can think of MANY scenario's where this kind of thinking would get you jailed or worse.
it feels right when i rub my balls with jelly on a train... people tell me all the time that im not allowed to do it..
yes you do. if you wanted to smoke in a restaurant, you probably need to ask the waitress whether its ok to smoke or not (or if they provide smoking room) because some restaurants arent giving some clear information about it. just saying

I have no idea what the bars look like - I don't drink, and never go into any. As for my house, it's not dirty, but it is cluttered - mostly because of my back and knee problems. Makes it hard to finish what I start once the pain kicks in. I'm working on it though. May as well accomplish something useful while I'm out of work, right? ;)
PS - hitting the bars would just guarantee your house will get even worse. Any attempt to clean it at that point would either be when you have a hangover, or when you're drunk... and that never ends well.

It really does seem like they lowered the limit in that one spot just so they can give out tickets. ________________________________ So when the officer said the limit there was 25, I pretended I didn't know the area and never saw the sign, and that I wasn't watching my speed anyway because I was coming off the downhill, so I was just coasting. Yep, learned this one a long time ago. More importantly, if you want to feel truly understood and accepted by the important people in your life, then you have to be honest with them. How can they accept or get you if you never let them know the REAL you?

No, venting is truly therapeutic! Talking to someone who about your problems is very important!
Sometimes complaining or venting does help. Telling someone your experience could lead to them giving you good advice, or helping you brainstorm a strategy to deal with the situation, etc. Just don't make it a habit... no one wants to hear you constantly complain about the same thing when it's obvious you aren't willing to DO anything that might change the situation!

Load More Replies...I don't "try" to sound smart... I just have an extensive vocabulary, which comes from being an only child that was always with adults. I learned how to speak properly before I even went to kindergarten, and was recognized in 6th grade for getting a perfect score on the statewide reading/writing tests. They said I had "beyond a 12th grade level" in 6th grade. My point is, the way I speak and write is completely natural to me. I don't have to pretend to know a word or use it correctly... I actually DO know it & use it properly. But some people will still get offended, thinking I'm trying to "show them up" or something. That's their insecurity, but I've found myself "dumbing down" my speech at times to avoid problems. It's just easier that way at times.
Those who truly do awesome things don't need to brag. They already know who they are. It's the people who've done nothing useful who feel the need to convince others of their *potential* greatness. When people are that insecure, all you can do is try to change the subject... or find another conversation!!
HAHAHA that sounds like my cousin. Not only does he brag about himself for hours on end, he will talk extremely loud, so everyone can hear him, in public
Also applies to bragging about your kids, one upmanship should have gone out with leg warmers & big hair.

Never. When I started a fanpage for a band, I was told it would never become what it became. I was cut down at every moment by people all around me. I didn't know what I was doing, but I poured my heart into it. My dream was interviewing the guitarist. I got to live that dream, and on my birthday to boot.
