Stray Dog Who Joined Runner On 155-Mile Race Disappears So The Athlete Flies To China To Find Him

Remember the story of runner Dion Leonard and a stray pup Gobi who joined him for a grueling marathon last month in China? While Leonard had been working on her adoption papers back in Scotland, Gobi disappeared last week. Shocked by the news, Leonard booked his flight immediately and was soon on his way to China to find Gobi himself.

With flyers in hand, Leonard was walking around the city where the pooch was last seen, hoping to find her. It proved to be almost as hard as the marathon itself because strays are not uncommon in that area, but the runner’s efforts eventually paid off. On Wednesday, a local recognized Gobi from one of the flyers and called Leonard. The two were reunited! “When we got there, I walked through the door and she came running towards me and ran around my legs and jumped up on me. It was love again at immediate sight,” he told the BBC.” Leonard still has a lot of paperwork to do but this time he’s not going anywhere without his soulmate. “I’ll be staying here as long as it takes to make sure everything is in place,” he said.

Seems like he's trying to get a human out of the country. Come on, send the man home with the pup!

Holy mother of god! O.o I can't believe he actually managed to find her. I really, really hope she won't have to spend months alone in quaranteen. I'll keep crossing my fingers for the two!!

I remember seeing the orignal article but never read it. Then I read she was missing and almost cried. Now knowing she's been found I can be ok again.

Oh, thank heaven he found her!! Chinese round up dogs and slaughter them, as well as have a dog-EATING "festival" every year. No wonder her flew back there as fast as he could. And that's NOT fast when you're talking about China. What a great guy!
