In a world filled with sterile office parks, concrete apartments, and uniform glass towers, some architects choose creativity and color. They let the most random things inspire them — a pineapple, an elephant, even a toilet.
Bored Panda has collected some of the most bizarre and hilarious architectural choices from every corner of the planet. These designers took one look at traditional blueprints and decided to throw them completely out the window. The results are fascinating and quite impossible to ignore.
Scroll down for some beautiful, weird, and strange buildings. And don’t miss the one designed in the shape of a low-flush Western toilet.

A Brutalist Supervillain Lair On The Beach
Vintage aerial view of Hotel Tambaú in João Pessoa, Brazil, designed by architect Sérgio Bernardes in 1962. The concrete ring structure looks like an ominous sci-fi fortress from the air.
Sérgio Bernardes designed the concrete circle to integrate into a grass ramp on the city side while opening up to the sand. The layout looks ominous, but it actually encloses a massive central courtyard and pool area so almost every room gets a view of either the interior plaza or the ocean.
The Hotel Tambaú, Paraiba, Brazil, has been closed since 2020 and is awaiting major restoration plans.

There's a Hundertwasser building here in Whangārei, New Zealand. It's ugly as sin, cost ratepayers hundreds of thousands of dollars, and is losing money hand over fist.

It's a shame there isn't more information about the buildings, like who owns them, who designed them, why were they designed that way.
This is what happens when the "author" of the list just rips someone else's list.
