Seeing their child graduate is one of the most rewarding and heartwarming experiences a parent can have. But it’s not always an easy task to the child, especially with all the challenges that the newly found adult life presents. 24-year-old Texas resident Hanss Mujica is one of those children who had overcome many obstacles in his path, but he always focused on one thing — making his parents proud. “Back in high school, I was not the most dedicated student” Hanss admitted, detailing how his academic journey was in his hands and he didn’t steer it the right way at first. It was after he told his parents that he was suspended from college that it came to a turning point. “Their face was filled with utter disappointment and sadness. The last time I saw that face was when they found out my older brother passed away,” recalled Mujica, “I told myself that I would never do anything to see that look in their face”.

And that’s when his hard work towards graduating began. It was far from easy, but Hanss persevered through every challenge as his determination and fear of disappointing his parents kept him going. Read his full story below to see how his parents reacted to the unexpected surprise.

Norton is absolutely right and this is a perfect example. This is true in so many things. When you get it for free, you take it for granted. When you have to pay for something, it becomes valuable and you don't want to waste it.

The video was touching, especially the part where the dad cries. Glad this young man changed his mind and decided to really study. It's a pity sometimes it takes time to realize what you want in life, but everything happens for a reason. Now he knows and values what his parents did for him. Me he emocionado. Enhorabuena por el nuevo graduado, familia!

Meh. Do it for yourself and not for them. They may be proud in that moment but you still have to put that degree to some use. Plus you never needed the degree in the first place to make them proud. Just by getting off your a*s and working hard, helping hem out, doing more etc would have been enough. This was more of a reason to rub it in their face which kinda shows you still don't get it :-(
