Satirical Illustrations Of Today’s Problems Drawn In The Style Of The 50s
John Holcroft is a well-known British illustrator who has worked for BBC, Reader’s Digest, The Guardian and the Financial Times, among others. However, what makes him famous are not his employers, but the brilliant satire reflected in his illustrations and the retro style he uses to create them.
Everytime Holcroft publishes a new drawing, they inevitably go viral and spread all over the Internet. His style is based on advertisements from the 50’s, and he reproduces everything from their visual design style down to their aged vintage feel.
The content of these illustrations, however, is anything but old-fashioned – social issues and modern behavior drawn in a satirical way. The issues he focuses on include our dependence on technology, society’s greed and the devaluation of workers, just to name a few.

At all of you so quick to judge - tell me how many of you work for free??
Load More Replies...You mean we are quick to judge because us slaves refuse to work for free?!
LOL ! Nothing to do with doctor's remuneration....it's about the access to the health care system & its increasing commoditisation... DUH!
its not about wages for work. its about the fact that the SALARY IS THE MAIN CONCERN
Hey Kyle why so quick to use names? Insecure of your own intelligence much? It seems people are upset doctors are taking money for work.
This is a satirical piece that reflects what the U.K may become if the NHS was privatized. www.johnholcroft.com - He'll know more.
well we don't HAVE your kind of health system in Bulgaria, have you considered that! and yet we still save people's lives for a minimal wage
it is probably not about the states either, the money is british. Stop thinking the world only turns around the states.
Stop deluding yourself, health care here in Bulgaria IS extremely corrupted but I only see a British coin in the picture...
Ehh... it says POUND on the coin... I don't think that is the currency in the USA... ;)
its not aimed at doctors in bulgaria hth, why do we have to consider bulgaria?

Well it's accurate overall. How the f**k are docs supposed to live without money, but some systems are worse than others. :/
why blame a doctor, he too lives and has to survive in this materialistic world, no one asks why Levi's charges so much for a pair of jeans?
Nobody needs jeans Subhendu, everybody needs health care. It's a human right, not a consumer good.
They would if Levi's marked their product up 1,000%. The US healthcare system does that to consumers with no insurance. Absolutely insane.
well, because 9% of my salary goes to hospitals and doctors every single month. That's why. We pay taxes for a healthy life...
That image isn't about blaming doctors. It's about the sad fact that in the US health care is for the financially privileged only.
I don't blame them, I blame the system. Look at Cuba and you'll see doctors willing to risk their lives in Africa to cure people from Ebola.

I am a doctor and I really find this offensive
Your a doctor, and didn't understand the meaning of the satire?!? That's sad. Doctor=Health System
The NHS have dragged out my partners chronic back pain for so long her vertebrae are crumbling. So I don't care how offensive you find it.
The health provider and insurance system could use improvements. Clinicians take the abuse and bear the risk of angry people. :(
Average salary of doctors in Serbia is400-500€,and we still save many lives! So,don't mind about US doctors who think that10.000€ isn't enouh
Always what is true annoys us So i find your offensiveness enlighting
I would too. Sadly people, the doctors get the blame. The real enemy here are the pharmaceutical corporations who make money off of disease.

Loved the one with the man watching TV, growing roots out of his a** into the chair... Also true if you sit all day in front of the computer
at least at computer the mind has possibility to learn, discover or just wander in somewhere nice. while at TV, whell you know yourself

I think it means, no matter how different people try to be, it will never be enough to free us from reality.
Individualism isn't about how we dress but what we do. He's got the same face and doing the same thing as everyone else.
To me, it meant different in the outside, same in the inside. They're all still connected to the Matrix.
As burned out and desensitized as everyone else, just fashionable. That's my interpretation...
It means the one who tries to stand out from the crowd is perceived as a clown by world...
Thought he was marching to work in pyjamas...no time to change...on the treadmill
