What I took from this one is that those three together do not stand as tall as Chaplin.

Maybe what he's trying to get at is if you "combined" all three of the comedians' styles you would get a Chaplin-like character? and in some way, Chaplin is equivalent to the equal but separate parts/personalities/aspects of Jim, Rowan and Benny? I mean, why out of allllllllllll the comedians out there did he choose these three guys? Just my own weird perspective on it.

Because it takes three of them to get to the level of the one. The one who started it all....

and nothing about Buster Keaton? Abbot and Costello? Laurel and Hardy... they're too many good comedian to put one over others

I agree that you shouldn't compared talent but this particular cartoon isn't saying they are compared to him but that he was such a genius that even three of them together aren't as great as he is.

It's not dictating the he was better but rather he paved the way for these comedians. He was the first director, producer and actor to do comedie on the big screen. He fought long and hard for his freedom of speech to allow others of their profession to freely be creative. He is the grandmaster as in the original founder.

If it wasn't for Chaplin. They wouldn't be who they are today. That is what the image is saying! :)

I agree that their talent should be compared but what this image is saying is actually the first thing you said, in a sense. That they three put together aren't as great as he is.

Boris, dont call something stupid just because you dont understand it. 3 comedians now still comes below than one chaplin himself, where is it not fare to you and maybe you forgot what this art is for ? To show in what world we live now. And how is it even labeling ?

They are not just comedians they are genius and helping to change the closed minds of stupid americans

Comedy has no seasons !!! Chaplin performed in 1900's - 60's. Anyway, what that have to do with it ? Chaplin was a great person, in front of his time. And above mentioned trio is exceptional, too. Not only because of their comedy, but because of their visionary, too. Not performers only, but involved in social constructivism & social constructionism. They are much more worth than many people, especially ignorant ones. But the last mentioned can't see that. IRA P.S. You don't know, then don't judge. And don't mix pears & apples, too.
