I would like to share Rinos story to remind people to be careful where they take their pet for medical care. Make sure vet reviews are high and trustworthy. Big well known vet corporations does not mean better care.
Since Texas considers pets as “property” there is little to no
retributions you can do if the vet is negligent or mistreats your pet.
Rino was taken to an emergency vet in Dallas to treat his chronickidney disease and anemia.
Under their care, he became in a paralyzed, vegetable state and waspushed to be euthanized.
At home, he has made a miraculous recovery and is able to walk, eatand do normal cat things. See full text story below:
TEXT STORY:
Rino is anything but an ordinary cat and so far has had an extraordinary life.
Rino, a stray, would frequently visit our house in Chicago and quickly snatched the hearts of those around him including myself.
He is not only handsome but has the sweetest personality, expecting love and pets from everyone he meets.
I decided to permanently bring him into my life and home.
During our 10 years together- He watched me grow up, being present for all of life’s major events. He has moved with me across multiple cities and states, going on lots of adventures.
He loves being outside in public with people and exploring the outdoors-sometimes brining home unexpected gifts.
He loves to party and be apart of the fun, but also chills and does cat things with his brother, Bread.
Unfortunately, on July 20th Rino was diagnosed with severe chronic kidney disease.
He was rushed to an emergency vet in Dallas where he was placed under 24/7 care to combat the disease.
Unexpectedly on July 21, under their care, Rino became paralyzed, in a vegetable state. His eyes were the size of saucers and his pupils were extremely dilated. He did not blink. He was pushed to be euthanized immediately multiple times.
Feeling this was not the right decision, I took Rino home to be comfortable. Over the next hours I cared for Rino hourly by flipping sides he was laying on, changing his pee pads, or syringe feeding him water and baby food.
Those hours were the toughest. I stayed awake with him throughout the night feeling lost, confused, and praying for a miracle.
On July 22 around 10 am, Rino began moving his head, become mentally aware, and attempt to crawl. We rushed him to a different emergency center in Frisco where he received excellent care for his chronic kidney disease. They also discovered he was anemic and administered a blood transfusion.
Over the next week he improved rapidly, regaining appetite, awareness and the ability to walk and stand.
While clinically stable, Rino is still in a dangerous situation and continues to need expensive medical care for his chronic kidney disease and anemia. This requires expensive medicines, iv fluids, supplies, veterinary care and tests-all to stabilize him. Without this he will not live.
While we know we are working with borrowed time, any extra amount of time we can spend with him is a blessing in itself.

You should say up front that this is a cash grab, a fundraiser, and not an article. This cat has better medical care than I do, a disabled human.I'm glad he has you as owners, but F all the way off asking other people to pay to lengthen his death rather than his life.
