Regina Antoinette is a 19 year old artist born in the island of Jamaica. Regina says she has been making art since as early as she can remember and that it was a large part of shaping her into the person she is today. According to Regina:

“Art was always my favourite subject in school, from kindergarten to highschool. My teachers would tell you; ‘there’s not a moment Regina isn’t making art’. They’d often find me sketching away in my notebook in the middle of a lesson.”

In the penultimate year of her tenure at highschool Regina sat the CAPE art (a proficiency examination in the Caribbean). She was placed fifth in her country for the exam, progressing with the highest achievable grade: a Distinction.

Regina comes from a large but tightly knit family and attributes the origins of her gifts from God and in part from her grandmother, who she recounts as “an ardent artist in her prime”. She describes her work as being “eclectic”, generally beginning her paintings with various mediums such as spray paint or ink before refining with oils. When asked about the meaning behind her work, she says:

“ My art shows a piece of the inner workings of my mind. Symbols, textures and colour that seek to transport the viewer and insight emotional freedom”. She goes on further to say, “ I like to listen to my painting and let it tell me what it wants to be – it changes a lot in the process. Often I don’t know what it means until it is finished.

After taking and graduating from an intensive fine art mastery portfolio at the Milan Art Institute, Regina says, “ I was able to find my artistic voice, hone and refine my skills.”

Aside from the visual arts, Regina also enjoys literature. “ Reading, writing stories and poetry, I am very passionate about words. They carry so much emotion. Writing is a huge part of my art making process and I do it daily without fail.”

Regina looks forward to creating more art and seeing how it will evolve as she does. She hopes to: continue to sell her work internationally, publish her own books on art and poetry, travel more and begin to teach and share with other artists all that she has learnt.
