This hanging light is made from a sandblasted wine bottle, Baltic plywood and brass parts that I fabricated along with items that I purchased from a supply store. The bulb is a 2 watt LED long lasting, energy efficient bulb. This is my newest addition to my line of recycled wine bottle lights that I make in my basement studio.
While earning a MFA from Pratt Institute, my focus was divided between painting and sculpture. The common thread was a love of color, light and process. The lamps are an extension of these interests, while also expressing my concern for the environment. An admiration for the Arts and Crafts movement, their reaction against an increasingly technological society, and their commitment to the marriage of form and function also informs my work.
