Sitting in a nook on Reddit, there’s a very special community called r/IRLEasterEggs. Created back in 2015 and now housing over 433k members, it’s dedicated to documenting, sharing, and celebrating all of the tiny (and not so tiny) Easter eggs hidden in real life that people happen to stumble upon. As it turns out, it’s not just movies, TV shows, and video games that have delightful secrets stashed away for only the most perceptive and the incredibly lucky to find. Human beings and real life are much more interesting than some of us give them credit for.

Canadian Passport When Held Under UV Light
The moderators are very clear and concise with the rules other members have to follow. They add tiny quirky comments to the rules, making it all really self-explanatory stuff, to be honest. From “don’t seek out conflict” (i.e. don’t be a jerk) to “I feel like I just saw this…” (i.e. try not to repost too often).
The fact that this subreddit exists also shows how many artists, craftsmen, and just your average Joe creatives adding magic to the hidden corners of the world there really are. Who needs Hogwarts when we’ve all got the potential to be wizards anyway?

The green ones are all spruce (Edit: no, pine. reading is helpful...) - you need trees that shed their leaves/needles and change colour. So I'd wager it's larch, which turns a beautiful shade of gold-orange in autumn (and then goes bald)

The US Airforce was created under similar conditions in 1948 at a time of exponential tech growth. Space Force has been in planning for at least a decade. The Airforce has too many missions to remain effective when air superiority is their task. Technology has moved warfare to space whether you like it or not. Space Force makes sense .

I love this company - Who Gives A Crap. They make recycled toilet paper and tissues and 50% of their profits go to building toilets and proper sanitation for communities that don't have them. Plus the rolls are wrapped in paper, not plastic. The rolls are bigger, last longer and look cute too! I strongly recommend them!

Your comment just sent me down an interesting rabbit-hole investigating Soulages' windows. I adore stained glass, used to make the stuff (til disability intervened). I'm usually a fan of vibrant colour, but the glass he created for the abbey is stunning, the overall 'grisaille' effect is beautiful, and works incredibly well with the medieval architecture. I'd love to see it in person one day! Thanks for your comment, it led to some enlightening reading :)

No, this is POLUS Utilitatis, the Common Utility Pole. Polis Utilitatis is the much rarer Polish Striped Roadgritter, easily identifiable due to its orange colouration. It is only found in central Europe, but can appear in Zimbabwe if it gets awfully lost.

I'm back on the case! The scientific name for a utility pole is not Polus utilitatis. Polus petrovski means nothing. Polus in roman mythology is the Titan of intelligence. Utilitatis is a peer reviewed journal. So it means intelligence of journals or titan of journals? NOT SURE. The more I dig the more I find confusion.

Funny history lesson. Baguette was invented because the workers off the first subway station got into knife fighting quite often and to prevent them from taking their knifes with them,which were to cut off rations of bread , the baguette was invented and the knifes collected. They used old baguettes for fighting instead.

At the Ellis County courthouse in Waxahachie Texas, there are a series of faces carved around the building. At the start it's a beautiful woman but as you go around the building she gets uglier and uglier. The story is that the artist hired to create the decorations in the 19th century fell in love with I think the mayor's daughter and it's her face he used but her father didn't approve or she broke up it off. The artist became so upset that he gradually turned her into a really ugly woman, like you picture a hag in stories.

its not like 2021 is going any better. take a look at michigan, for example. on tuesday there was a school shooting at oxford high school, by a troubled kid whose parent let him bring a gun to school, with the mom saying things like "dont get caught" and "dont do it". 4 people died. a teacher was shot along with 7 others. 2 days later there were 60 schools that closed for the day because of threats. the next day there were 80. my school closed both days. rest in peace, 4 victims of ethan crumbley. those who were injured, have a safe recovery. to ethan and his parents, f**k you and may you rot in hell forever for bringing a week of hell for michigan and this country. even pres. biden knows of this. #OxfordStrong

I used to love Pata-gucci. Their quality has dropped considerably. I still have three synchilla pieces over 20 years old that are doing great. I just returned my third rain shell because the lamination was failing again. Third one in 6 years. I'm switching to Marmot and Arcteryx.

"Jeepster" eggs, I call them. hunt for them on the 08's on up for every model. easiest to spot are on the dark outlines around window glass (a lota sasquatches) and the anti-glare caps of modern headlights usually have the jeep grille molded into them

My whippety lurcher is overdue a bath...I swear that hairy-noodle dog can get up to speeds above 40mph in a 10ft x 10ft bathroom, wall-of-death style! Hauling my giant mastiff x into/out of the bath is hard work, but at least he stays put once he's in there. My little terrier stands resignedly in the kitchen sink, reserving the hurtling about until I'm done, then hates me for 24hrs. Bathing the cat requires me to dress in my old bike gear - helmet, leather jacket, gauntlets- and take my life into my hands. At 20y.o., she's...ornery.

Some packaging is almost genius in it's design. I never open from the bottom lest a piece of mechanical art rendered in cardboard is undone. Going from the bottom is akin to cutting down the tree to get the apples.

When I was little my mum's friend (an Art teacher who was amazing at woodwork) made me a beautiful dolls house that had a miniature version of itself inside which also opened up with mini versions of all the furniture and everything! I used to draw CAD construction plans for a retail chain... one store was in downtown NYC and the building had an enclosed truck dock. Rooms are always named/identified on the drawings and no one told me what to call that room, so I named it Docking Bay 94. It went out for permits like that. And years from now when they pull out the old set to make more changes, it'll likely still be called Docking Bay 94! :) For an extra kick, I included in the CAD plan on a layer that doesn't print, a tiny version of the Millennium Falcon! Double easter eggs!

I have a strange habit of pausing any show/movie/documentary when they show a news paper clipping. I like to read them. I forget the movie, but I was reading a (fake) clipping. For the most part, it was talking about the story, but about 2/3 of the way through it said something like, "Do you know how hard it is to write fake newspaper articles? Why are you even reading this? Get a life!" I laughed so fricken hard! I wish I could remember the movie! Now, I'll have to hunt it down.
