I Show People They Can Read Books Anywhere And Anytime
My name is Jakub Pavlovsky and I’m a 21-year-old supporter of reading books. I was born in Slovakia but I’ve been living in the Czech Republic for several years. A few months ago, I realized that people weren’t reading books as much as they did before. Nowadays, they prefer modern technologies rather than a lovely and interesting book. Of course, there are still many people who never forget about the beauty of stories written on paper. Unfortunately, there are more who just don’t appreciate it.
Therefore, I created a project called “BOOK’S CALLING” and I did it on social media – I want to spread a traditional idea through a modern system. The project’s motto is “Make Time For Reading. Anywhere, Anytime.” I keep the pose of sitting at the same angle and posture in all of the photos, as if the world and environment pivots around this pose throughout the day, every day.
I specialize in photography and my work comprises of reading portraits in everyday life. I hope to encourage more people to read and get lost in a book.

Share on FacebookIt's a wonderful message and the execution is well done. But could you tell us personally why reading is so important to you? I'm curious :)
I'm sorry but my answer is longer than it is allowed here :)
Load More Replies...I love it! There is something about the smell of a book and the places it can take me that I will never let go of.
Apart from not being able to sit like that for many, many years, I totally agree with your premise. However, you are missing the coffee
this is wonderdul! When I was a kid I proved I could read anywhere and be so absorbed, undisturbed into any circumstances: my mom took me shopping to the supermarket and left me at the books' section; I sat on the floor, took a book and started reading... until I look around and saw the suppermarket completely deserted. I then heard my mom shouting my name, but decided to go back to my book. with security guys she took me and removed me from the bliss i wa in. It was then i realised the foul smell: the supermaket got evacuated because someone dropped a bottle of ammonia... right in the book section. I was there, next to it, the whole time, not smelling a thing. I am now immune to ammonia smell. I am also aware that the whole world can collapse around me and i would not cre if i am reading a good book.
6th picture, the guy on the left, holding hand with a girl... his look really sums it all up
V rušnom obchoďáku by som si knihu asi nevedela poriadne užiť, ale nápad skvelý! Btw, tiež už žijem v ČR nejaký ten piatok ...:)

I love books. Love everything about books. Those book wreaths that are so popular...they HURT ME. People are DESTROYING BOOKS! Blasphemy, lol! ;) I did FINALLY download the kindle app for my phone...and I will admit, reading on the phone and *always* having a book to go to (no worries about finishing one and not having another!) is nice...But it will never replace real books. :) I hit up the local used book seller at least once a week...I come home with two loaded shopping bags every time. The old books never go back...the collection just becomes more vast, lol! ;)
for me, I get easily distracted. need silence in a uncrowded corner in order for me to indulge my reading.
i no longer like to read ; I only listen to conferencies about items I like on Videosharing platform
After a "readathon" at school, my son carried a book with him everywhere. When I was doing the shopping he would find a place in the shop to sit and read until I was finished. He would read on the 3 minute drive from home to school. Even now at 23 he has a book downloaded on his phone so when he comes out with me he can read if he is waiting for me. A love of books is a wonderful thing.
These are not comfortable reading positions. I think it is better to get comfortable and warm to read couple of chapters, than stop anywhere to grab just a few paragraphs.
I love this. I'm just the same as you, I am always reading (to the detriment of other things that I should be doing).
<3 awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish that i could have a boyfriend who read a lot :3
Whaaaaaa? Dogs are allowed in buses? :( In my country they re not. Great project and totally agree with the concept :)))
I always carry a book with m anywhere I go. I wouldn't have thought of inconveniencing others by sitting in the middle of a sidewalk.
Being so inconsiderate to others does more harm than good. Getting in everyones way just gives readers a bad name!
try reading 80 pages on each of those spots, maybey you will chance your mind
I'm all for promoting reading, being a huge bibliophile myself, but sitting in peoples way like that is just inconsiderate and rude.
If you sit in the middle of a crowded street people are gonna trip over a hipster twat.
I get it, you can read books wherever, It's clever, some pics are good and cute but some places are definitely tripping hazards for people.
wow, a book? he's reading a book? I wonder why he doesn't have an iPhone? <
dude, this is not nice, ok? making everywhere your own private spot is not delicate.
I think reading should be something that one does because one wants to read book X, not just for the sake of reading.
well, you can read wherever you want. but if you are an encumbrance to others you should get kicked away from your public individualism :))
V rušnom obchoďáku by som si knihu asi nevedela poriadne užiť, ale nápad skvelý :) Btw tiež už žijem v ČR nejaký ten piatok..:)
This is wonderful. But is it just me, or does it look like it's photoshopped in some pictures? I'm not saying it is, just looks like it is.
Some people told me the same. But not, nothing is photoshopped :D I only use filters.
Load More Replies...Have you had any success. I assume at least a small amount of people stopped you to see what you're doing, did you convince anyone to read ?
Yes, I did :-) Several people asked me what I was doing so I explained it to them. And some of them wrote me that I inspired them to read.
