Queen Elizabeth II has held the longest reign of any other monarch in the UK, and the second longest reigning monarch of all time. And during her impressive reign, Queen Elizabeth made an unforgettable impression on the world. She had a lifetime full of honorable accomplishments, such as serving in World War II as an auto mechanic, advocating for racial justice, bringing modern views to the monarchy, heading countless charity efforts, and reforming the monarchy’s finances.

Despite the mixed opinions the public has about the royal family as a whole, one thing remains: everybody loved Queen Elizabeth. In fact, she was Britain’s favorite member of the royal family. According to a recent survey, many Brits viewed her as a great representation for the nation for the rest of the world, believed she united the people of Britain, and viewed her as powerful, capable and of sound judgment. Compared to the other members of the royal family, the public perception of Queen Elizabeth was overwhelmingly positive.

The queen’s family, which is understandably torn up about this sad news, is well aware of the fact that she will be missed. King Charles III referred to the death of his beloved mother as a “moment of great sadness” that would be felt across the globe. “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished sovereign and a much-loved mother,” he told the BBC. “I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”

And in reference to Charles III becoming the new king, Prime Minister Liz Truss is optimistic that he will live up to his mother’s reputation. “We offer him our loyalty and devotion, just as his mother devoted so much, to so many, for so long,” she told the BBC. “And with the passing of the second Elizabethan age, we usher in a new era in the magnificent history of our great country, exactly as Her Majesty would have wished, by saying the words ‘God save the King’.”
