Being the youngest of my generation in the family to have a child, I managed to escape this. My older relatives (the ones who usually give the most unsolicited advice) had learned from my older cousins that it's not always welcome - or needed. So by the time I had my son, they would say, "You're the mom, so it's up to you, but I can offer some advice if you want it." Most of the time, being a new mom, I DID want it. However I didn't always agree with it, and they had learned not to be offended if I didn't do exactly as they suggested. ------------ I was a lucky lady!!

I never required a pacifier as a child. Hence, I never learned teething and will chew on papaer

I learned to wait until my son was napping for any "personal business", and to shower at night, after he was asleep. ;)

I never needed to wait that long... I would just look at my son's eyes. If they were just a little bit too pink around the eyelashes, and if the blue iris was so dark it looked more purple, I knew he was tired, and I'd get him down for the nap before they hysterics began. --------------- Best trick for getting my son to stay in the crib/bed until he fell asleep was a tv with a vcr attached (a DVD these days). I'd put on a Disney movie for him, and within 15 minutes he'd be out cold!!

I'm glad I don't like going out already before I'm a mom :P Won't be so much of a change

This was my son.. I swear he waited for me to change him just so he could go poop in a clean diaper.

And having that tune run around in your head for days!

They're 2 they're 4 they're 6 they're 8, shunting trucks and hauling freight, red and green and brown and blue, they're the really useful crew!

I still have songs from the wiggles running through my head... son is 7 and he still loves them!
