It's pretty terrifying to see this little guy go through a seizure, but after a day or two, he seems none the worse for wear and is back to his usual self. It's been a while since his last one, so, singers crossed!

Even tough people say that one shouldn´t have wild animals at home, if it gives them a better life indoors with you then they would outdoors, like handicapped animals, and you know how to take care of it, go for it, let them be happy as much as possible.

Thanks all for the positivity! This little guy was found by hubby in a CVS parking lot when he was an almost featherless baby, about to get squished by a car. He brought the little guy home. I PROMISE, we had every intention of repatriating him back into the wild when he got strong enough and when he was, he wouldn't leave. Then, when he started having seizures, and consulted with the wild life expert at the local zoo. We were told that he wouldn't be fit for the wild, and how best to care for him. I can also promise that Bertram is super loved, spoiled, and very well taken care of. If you do still have questions about his wellbeing though, please feel free to ask! :)

He is a very sweet little guy. We're glad that we found him when we did. Bertram does have his fans that send him stuff sometimes. He's a simple little guy, who likes simple things. We've donated some stuff and money sent to him to local wildlife rehabs and animal charities in his name. If we did set up something like that, it would be to gift to local animal causes. :)

Would LOVE to (seriously... like, amazing stuff. I've seen it in action on people...), but because he is such a little guy, it's very hard to dose him.... I was told b the wildlife guy at our local zoo that a birdie like him with his issues really can't be medicated because the dosing is extremely difficult to measure. The amount of blood they'd need to take to test him for proper meds and dosage would legit kill him... :o His diet was drastically altered and we've made adjustments in our home to make it a more habitable environment for Bertram. He's ben seizure free for a few months now... Fingers crossed! Thanks for the awesome suggestion though!

I do have a few steps and ramps in an effort to lessen the impact on her one good leg over time. I try to put them in favorite places to aid in her descent. She doesn’t need them though and I often find her where she shouldn’t be. Like climbing the curtains to get to the bird or on the counter top to lick the butter!

Actually, Ringo has a very gentle character. He lost his eye when he was a few weeks old. In fact, I took him off the street with his eye hanging out of its socket!

Oh my gosh I'm so glad she survived!!! I run a small wildlife rescue and so few distemper patients make it... maybe it's different with dogs. Distempers no joke. So happy to see a distemper survivor for once :)

Both of my younger puppers (Brother and sister) had distemper when they were little, before we adopted them. We were so lucky, they survived with little damage. I can't imagine how careful you have to be with her teeth and mouth. Your dog is so cute, and I am sure she is awesome!

It's amazing how far she's come-she couldn't walk more that 3 steps without collapsing when we first brought her home and she's so strong now! I can't even keep up with her at the park; she always outruns me.

He was in a special shelter that specializes mostly in severely handicapped dogs. Most people go there and ask for the 2 legged dogs, the blind, the very scarred, so he was so of out of the radar. My dad asked for a dog that nobody paid attention, so they gave him this dog to walk. Next day he was filling the adoption forms.

This Was Jerry. He Was 17, Blind, Arthritic, With A Heart Condition, And Had Just Returned Home From The Vet Where They Diagnosed A Tumour On His Liver That Was Causing Internal Bleeding. He Wasn't Suffering At The Moment This Photo Was Taken. He Died Several Hours Later. With All His Imperfections He Was The Best Dog I've Encountered In My Life. Love You

Thank you. So true... they are family. He was my lifeline when my cat, Ambra, passed away in July. He kept me going despite both of us being devastated by the loss. You don't know the half of it. Such a small dog such a big presence in my life. Even my neighbor came to wish him good-bye. It's all his stuff and meds all over the house that are some of the most difficult things to confront. I don't want to get rid of anything for fear of erasing his memory. :(

Thank you. It was one of the most difficult decisions in my life especially when he looked like he was back to his normal happy go lucky self. Unfortunately, he started to crash about an hour after I took the photos. The vet arrived just in time to help him cross over. I held my head against his and kept telling him he was a good boy and that all the pain would go away. He just looked at me thru his hazy eyes and didn't complain except for a little wince. He took a part of me with him.

Thank you so much. When I adopted him he was the dog nobody wanted. He was a total mess and looked like an old mop. That's why I adopted him. On the way home from the shelter he put his head on my lap and I knew I had done the right thing. He just needed TLC to become my BFF. His paws were crooked (from being in a cage too long with his previous owners) so he walked funny but he always had a spring in his step. I will always miss the little guy. Jerry-003_...893f8c.jpg

It's losing a member of the family. He was loved and had a fantastic life, hold on to that. I sadly am closer to your story than I want to be, my 13 year old, old girl is stone deaf but sadly has a major heart problem and after 14 months the medication isn't working anymore, she is due back at the vets tomorrow and I really don't want to go 😔

I don't know what breed your girl is but don't lose hope. 13 is not too old. Show her love all the time, it helps them tremendously. Jerry had a horrible heart murmer (despite the meds) and in the end it wasn't the reason for his passing. Sending you my best wishes for a positive outcome.

Most of the pibbles I've known have been sweethearts. A few had poor owners (dog not socialized well), a couple physically abusive owners (who were astonished to find themselves reported), and two fine dogs who grew aggressive when a baby was born into the household. Not TOWARDS the baby, overprotective to the point that the adults were not safe. Those two were euthanized for the safety of all. Then there was my SIL's pibbie, who thought she was a lap puppy. And truthfully, I think that most bad dogs are poorly/incorrectly trained. (And there are plenty of ill behaved yappy rat-dogs who prove that point!)

This is terrible. No one should ever be allowed to poison anything - much less a living thing. This poor Cat now can barely eat anything. And I am quite sure that the sick, awful person whom did this probably did not care. This damaged a poor, innocent animal's life forever. But, someone adopted this poor sweetheart. Someone showed this Cat the love and kindness it deserves. Otherwise, this Cat might not have made it. Whoever adopted this cat, thank you.

He also had fractions in his back right leg and from being hit so much his bladder was damaged and one of his ribs broke off and fused to his stomach wall also it cost 1,700 on surgeries and one more to go for his final bladder stent TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!!!!!

Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (E.P.I.) is when part of the pancreas shuts down and does not produce digestive enzymes. The enzymes are what break down our food, allowing our nutrients to be absorbed through the small intestine. When the body is unable to produce those enzymes, nothing is absorbed, the dog just has horrible diarrhea, and essentially starves to death (despite eating multiple times a day). This is treated by mixing powdered enzymes (extracted from pig pancreas) with every single meal (including treats, bones, etc) for the rest of Neville's life. He's not even 2 yet, but I'm glad he has a life to look forward to! ❤️ I love this dog so much. He saved me from the deepest depression after a divorce and is just my everything :)

I thought I had the flu and went to sleep. Woke up to Daisy push-pawing on my cheek (which hurt!). She was meowing, but I couldn't hear anything. I sat up quickly and almost passed out. Called 911 and was rushed to ER. It was sepsis. The ER doctor was amazed I'd woken up at all. When I told him my cat woke me up, he called her a hero. She truly is! My lucky black cat. She has a pretty large cleft lip and palate, but it doesn't affect her at all. She's very... fluffy. :) (PS - when she found me, she was tiny, covered in tree sap, and had been skunked! My skinny, stinky, sticky baby!)

I forgot to mention he is also missing his front teeth and has chronic teeth issues due to the FIV. When he drinks water, some will roll down his chin cause it's hard for him to control that. (But, he looks super cute when it happens!) He is a beautiful cat and was up for adoption with many people interested, that is until they told the people he had HIV. Poor guy was so depressed and stressed that he lost all of his hair on his ears and nose from being in a cage for so long. I fell in love instantly and when they told me he had FIV, I wanted him even more. I put my adoption application in and that night learned all about FIV and how to properly take care of him with his disease. The next morning, the adoption agency called very excited that he was finally going to be adopted because he was in danger of being euthanized. He's a six year old rescue dog (Rottweiler/Belgian shepherd(?) cross). He lost his eye in a fight with a cat and spent 330 days in an RSPCA centre. We've had him for about 7 months now. He's the best one-eyed pirate dog we could ever imagine.

To me they´re all purrect and pawsome, I tried to add a photo of my Thori whose lil penis had to be replaced by a mini hose in a surgery in April of this year (21st of April) after he had had a repeated complete urinary blocking and had been close to a bladder rupture in March, he needs urinary diet dry food and some meds for the rest of his life, but the photos on my notebooks´re all not big enough somehow... Kai my netherland dwarf, now 9 and a half years, was originaly going to be put down cause of his white paw(his parents were show rabbits and champions).
Took him in. Later same year I took in a holland lop at 4-5 weeks old who was going to be put down due to a blind eye and was small and weak. One eye Teddy Bear passed away after just two and a half year on first day of Easter weekend, he got a viking chief worthy burial(we only sacrificed carrots and treats). I literally just ahhhhhhd at every single one, they all look like beautiful, loving pets who just get on with things despite any challenges, i love them all and the owners, you are all good people.

To me they´re all purrect and pawsome, I tried to add a photo of my Thori whose lil penis had to be replaced by a mini hose in a surgery in April of this year (21st of April) after he had had a repeated complete urinary blocking and had been close to a bladder rupture in March, he needs urinary diet dry food and some meds for the rest of his life, but the photos on my notebooks´re all not big enough somehow...
