Centuries ago in Arabia, people used horses and camels as means of transportation and used poetry as a means of communication.
By Poetry in Motion I mean to convey a message of authenticity and persistence.
Like ancient Arab poets, I like to think that my work is influenced by my experiences. My father fled his home in Be’r El Sabe’ in Palestine in (1967) to Jordan. I learned about my hometown as an outsider through folk songs and lullabies my mom used to sing to me. I heard scattered stories about how people lived there, and plowed through books and novels to learn more. I was kicked out of a home I never saw and deprived a history that is uniquely mine.
I lived in Jordan as a kid. I used to submit smaller works to comics where they dedicated pages to young artists as they called us. It is a different experience, however, seeing myself here more than 10 years later and trying to comprehend the overarching themes of what I’ve been doing.
Once the artwork is out in the world, it belongs to everyone else but the artist. People choose their own meanings and resemblances against what they see. However, I would like to conclude by saying that Poetry in motion is about finding oneself within his own skin and heritage and communicating these experiences in the environment he lives in. Only in that way can one capture the universality of the emotion..of beauty.
Enjoy,

Poetry In Motion
The poetry in this drawing translated to English:
“We reached the sky by our hard work,
and we hope to reach higher.
There’s no good in a dream if it doesn’s have a seed
and a plan to protect it.
And there’s no good in ignorance without a patient person who,
if he discovers something,
in bringing it to light,
sets it straight.”
