I Paint Pictures Out Of Sync

My paintings and drawings are comprised of overlapping figures stitched together in one composition. They are multifaceted, abstracted, and meant to evoke the idea that our identity is in flux. Though we are singular beings, our psyche is not. We are molded in part by time and our life experiences.

The subjects in my paintings personify the strength and frailty of consciousness and the depths to which we experience the human condition. The figures are displaced, out of sync and painted together from a multitude of people, like ghosts or layered memories, both timeless and self-aware.

The colors portray a very strong emotion. This remind me of a breaking relation but the partners are so involved into each other that it's difficult to detach.

A little secret: The concept came after I did a few of the first pieces. I chalk it up to being too close to the work. It takes a few years sometimes for my conscious mind to catch up and understand why.

Thanks for the question. I used to, but I am mostly more interested in new icontemporary figurative painting, surrealism, and some fantasy and sci-fi art.

These remind me of the paintings shown in the "Night Gallery" when Rod Serling was giving the introduction to that night's story.

Interesting. I have never seen the "Night Gallery" Though I have watched about every episode of Twilight Zone. I will check it out. I appreciate the education.
