Woman Shows How She Would Look Like If She Had The ‘Perfect’ Body Throughout History (6 Pics)

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Or so they say. But is it really? We are all influenced by the zeitgeist, whether we like it or not, and the beauty standards of our times definitely impact on what we perceive to be attractive.
Fitness blogger Cassey Ho has noticed that the ‘ideal’ body type that society bestows on women seems to be changing ever more quickly. Like the insidious nature of fast fashion, where trends come and go in the blink of an eye to keep you buying, these rapid changes in perfect body ideals are leaving women feeling confused, exhausted and always inadequate. So you worked your ass off to get that thigh gap and bikini bridge? Too late, now you need a curvy body with a huge butt and a narrow waist. To illustrate her point, Cassey decided to show how beauty standards and the shape of the body have changed over the years.
Cassey Ho is a fitness trainer who recently decided to portray the changing nature of beauty standards

“If I had the “perfect” body throughout history, this is what I’d look like:”

“Mid 2010s-2018 – Big butts, wide hips, tiny waists, and full lips are in! There is a huge surge in plastic surgery for butt implants thanks to Instagram models posting belfies.” Even cosmetic surgery doctors have become IG-famous for reshaping women. Between 2012-2014, butt implants and injections rise by 58%.”

“Mid 90s-2000s – Big boobs, flat stomachs, and thighs gaps are in. In 2010, breast augmentation is the highest performed cosmetic surgery in the United States. It’s the age of Victoria’s Secret Angel. She’s tall, sports an athletic body type, and she’s always got long legs and a full chest.”
“Early 90s – THIN IS IN. Having angular bone structure, looking emaciated, and super skinny is what’s dominating the runways and the magazine covers. There’s even a name for it: “heroin chic”.”
“1950s – The hourglass shape is in. Elizabeth Taylor‘s 36-21-36 measurements are ideal. Marilyn Monroe’s soft voluptuousness is lusted after. Women are advertised weight gaining pills to fill themselves out. Playboy magazine and Barbie are created in this decade.”
“1920s – Appearing boyish, androgynous and youthful, with minimal breasts, and a straight figure is in! Unlike the “Gibson Girl” of the Victorian Era, women are choosing to hide their curves, and are doing so by binding their chests with strips of cloth to create that slender body type suitable for flapper dresses.”
“1400-1700 The Italian Renaissance – Looking full with a rounded stomach, large hips, and an ample bosom is in. Being well fed is a sign of wealth and status. Only the poor are thin.”
“Why do we treat our bodies like we treat fashion? “Boobs are out! Butts are in!” Well, the reality is, manufacturing our bodies is a lot more dangerous than manufacturing clothes.”
“Stop throwing your body out like it’s fast fashion. Please treat your body with love & respect and do not succumb to the beauty standard. Embrace your body because it is YOUR own perfect body.”

2018 perfect body - just in USA probably, definitely not in Europe.
It's not the perfect body anywhere - it's the ideal celebrities are trying to cram down everyone's throats. It's not really achievable for most women without surgery.
And thank God for it, because it's looking f*cking horrible!
relax. there's always GIMP. or photoshop... which is probably how these were generated. In any case, If I saw that 2018 'figure' walking around, I'd stare. While trying to figure out if the ass were grown in a mold, like those cubical watermelons. Sorry to burst the fashion-bubble... but most guys have their own beauty standard. For me... it's more a question of things other than physical appearance. (okay... i think my partner is HOT, but that's not why I'm with her.)
Even with surgery. And the surgery is VERY dangerous. Any full anesthetic has a risk of death. Small but still there. Surgeons think they have told you this when they say " there is a risk with any surgery".... because that is what they mean..... sort of need a translator when talking to surgeons.
Agreed! It's not the perfect body at all. I certainly haven't jumped on the "booty gainz" train.
If all you watch is rap videos it's perfect
Agreed.
Yeah, I had to disagree with that 2018 one too. That's definitely not the body women in Korea and Mediterranean Europe are trying to achieve. And even if you do look similar to that, in Korea, they'd think you're fat. But otherwise, I like her idea and the reasons behind it.
I did once see a lady in Scotland - she had the tiniest waist and a massive huge Kardashian butt - must have been 100% natural as she was kind of young and a student. Is weird when . as a woman - you are transfixed by another woman's bum
It’s not the perfect body in the US, it’s a body dysmorphic, surgically enhanced body.
It's only surgically enhanced for people who aren't shaped like that naturally. My natural shape is like that, but i'd rather have an hourglass figure or slim-athletic. People always want what they don't have.
as a Girl from Germany i'd say most european guys would go for it, just a bit less butt and way more boobs but still a very small waist.
Not all Americans like that "Kardashian" look https://www.yachtsalesnewjersey.com
I'm not American but is it even considered the perfect body over there? It looks like she's changed her body type to resemble Kim K, one woman.
No, it's merely the Kardashians idea of a perfect body, not the American ideal.
@Nia I've just googled Top 10 Models on Instagram and the list has few that have this body type, the fact is that this body type is not the current "Perfect Body" it's just that there is more recognition that there other body types that appeal to different people(which is a good thing).
And Nicki Minaj, Amber Rose, and most Instagram models.
When I was a teenager - 1970s - bought alot of clothes from catalogues - the standard sizing was - size 10 =34" chest 22" waist, 34" hips - size 12 was 36/24/36, size 14 was 38"/26"/38 - these days size 10 has 30" waists - very confusing. Back then size 8 or below didnt even exist in the UK
The numbers these days are all lies - there is no standard sizing across the board anymore in the fashion industry! Depending on the brand, I can wear a size 8 or 10 or 12, and even a 14!
Reason why I would never even attempt to buy clothes online today
And women are still using the excuse that Marilyn Monroe was a size 14! Compare todays measurements to a 14 in the seventies and you would be shocked. 36 27 38 are the measurements for a size 14 in the 70s on the back of a Simplicity pattern. 42 36 44.5 are the measurements for a current 14 in American sizing. Taking 42 36 44.5 measurements in the 70s and you would be a size 20.5
@Julie Day And that isn't even right anymore. I'm currently a size 14 and all 3 of my measurements are slightly larger than what you said. I'm more like 44 39 46, and the 14 fits me perfectly. I'm losing weight and started at a 22, so I just bought one of every size in the same brand and I'm running through them. Expected to have to lose about 15 more pounds than I did to fit into the 14, but here I am.
I think it's the desired shape in the UK as well, but can't speak for the rest of europe.
Surely not in Italy! :)
im from europe fat ass women are absolutely becoming more and more the ideal at least in switzerland
Loving it!!! Don't know why the negative. "Fat ass women" maybe. I wasn't offended. I looked at my own backside and complimented, hmm fat ass, I woman.
I find it sexy and i am from Europe, how is this possible?
Because each of us has their own preferences? :) Honza is (ahoj, mimochodem) simply saying that he believes that majority of people in Europe wouldn't say that this is the perfect body.
Well, you probably find all of these examples sexy. All of them look good. There’s a difference between sexy and “standard,” you know what I mean?

Because you have great taste and like seeing a woman whom didn't look like all she had was a leaf of lettuce cause someone told her she'll get fat.
Yeah, plastic ass is famous in the US.
As a citizen of the USA, I can tell you that this is not the perfect body here. Very few people think that.

It's definitely in europe as well, its everywhere on Instagram
what would the europe "perfect" body be?
"Perfect" will be her original (first photo from gym) shape probably. Woman and girls here are mostly trying for fit figure, spending hours in gym, healthy eating and they want everyone to see it.
No idea how to tag Jasmine Walker, but models in the US are equally as unhealthy. Fashion models are about the same size as French models. Then the Victoria Secret models, although they look fit, they are on a ridiculous ass diet, too, and all of them are also underweight.
Well, if models are based on European standards, then thin, I reckon. I don't live in Europe so idk if that changed. I just think of poor French models dying due to anorexia and bulimia. :(
I'd say her original figure or the mid 90s one.
Honza, I am sorry for that prehistory taste you developed. venus of willendorf came out of style since 8,000 years ago.
It's the Kimmie look....but everyone's just frightened to say the reason - the woman is obese.
Kim Kardashian is not obese by any reasonable standard. I don’t know what you are talking about.

@Nia. A physician of my acquaintance took one look at a photo of her and said, "Heart attack in 15 years or less. Unless she loses 40 pounds NOW." ...///... I'll listen to a physician, thanks. Or...where did you go to medical school again?

That Cala Basas region of the USA?
I know it's not the point - but she's really good with photoshop. I would be barely able to tell she altered all of the pictures.
My thought was even more off-point, what is the cake thing she is eating? Looks amazing.
It looks like she's eating beignets, Simon :)
She is most likely at Café Du Mond in New Orleans, and yes, eating those yummy beignets. Puffy squares of fried doe heaped with powdered sugar. The mix is available on line and at some stores like Cost Plus.
I'll warn you, beignets you get anywhere but New Orleans just don't taste the same ;)
yeah...I really want it lmao
That was my only thought coming out of this. I never thought I’d get an answer in the comments!
Those look like beignets actually! Absolutelt yummy

You would be what's considered an idiot. That Photoshop was terrible.
I'm a proud combination of 1400 - 1700 and 1950. :D i used to hate my Body as a Teenager but now i (and my boyfriend) love it. yes it can be hard finding clothes (especially bras) when you have big boobs, a small waist and a big butt with strong legs. but hey ... i'm able to chrush a watermelon with my thights and i can knock out anyone who Comes too Close to me with my massive boobs.
I would be able to crush a watermelon with my butt - I would sit on it - much easier.
Lena, not sure what everyone else's issue is with you post but who cares. As long as you're happy with you that's all that is important. Maybe if they get closer you can knock one out.
Big boobs and shoulders and small hips is way more difficult upper body is 2 sizes bigger than lower body - thank god for lycra
Agreed! 90% of womens pants don't fit me because my waist to hip ratio is too small. All I wear are leggings now. Taking in the hips and thighs on jeans is impossible because of the outer seam being an overlock stitch. It's much easier to take in the waist on jeans.
Used to be thinner until prednisone kicked me. Now I'm 44/40/46. No discernible waist. My belts are afraid when I try to put them on. They look at me and yell, 'please, no...what did we ever do to you!". I don't buy new belts. I just have hubby drill another hole in them when I want to wear a belt (which is getting less and less frequent these days). So now I wear only stretchy stuff on the top, and my jeans must have lycra/spandex in them. Fortunately my hubby loves me, warts and all. So I do my best, wear what I like, and wish for the 1400s when I would have fit in just fine (lol).

Since when did crushing watermelons with thighs become a spectator sport??? Can you not just cut it up like normal people?
Where's the fun in that?

Historicall large breasts aren’t natural. Corseting reshaped bodies. Also, super fat was never considered healthy, it’s far different from today’s fatness. Finally, shape changed because you can see that in the 17th and 18th century shaping was much different from 19th century. Not a great deal of research was done
Plenty of women have large breasts naturally. My grandmother actually had to have hers reduced.
huge breasts have always been natural imagine having 3 stone of weight on your front - men would have had them removed
Diane A there hasn’t been ant peer reviewed research on how corsetin affects fad pads in the body, but I suspect you are correct.
Shaping was done from a young age for children in the 1800's - made to wear corsets from age 10. It constricted the waist, dissallowed fat from accumulating around the mid-section - it built up elsewhere. Hence the Victorian and Edwardian "tiny waist" naked - chunky body - tiny waist photos. Waist training did kind of work - although some socialites in the late 1800's had ribs removed to get the look
Actually watch YouTube fashion historians. People padded out all .the.time. tiny bum? Bum rolls and bustle pads baby!1700-1800's . No boobs? Pad your corset. Tiny waist? 1800s Photoshop with paintbrush

Women from Africa have always had large breast. At least that is what all the ancient carvings of women indicate.
