As a photographer, my only goal is to make certain my subject sees him/herself the way they are seen by others, and not with their own self-critical filter. Speaking of filters, Photographers avoid those cheap-a*s Instagram and Snapchat filters that make everything look so glorious and perfect. Every photograph is carefully inspected, considered, and either accepted or denied. That is why professional photographers take not just one photo, but a succession of camera clicks. Because the more, the greater chances of capturing the essence with just a single click. Has nothing to do with Photoshop.

To add - you really cannot take a s****y photo and have Photoshop make it amazing. A s****y photo, in composition and lighting, is still just a s****y photo. No amount of Photoshop can fix that. It takes creativity to stage a perfect photo - just like these photographers displayed. I challenge you to prove me wrong. After all, you are clearly not a professional photographer, but definitely a snarky wannabe.

Photoshop isn't the trick every non-photographer thinks it is. Try to prove otherwise. Stop downplaying true photography by attributing the gift to technology. It takes creativity and an eye.

Except these are not just a few simple tricks. But people can relate to this better if you tell yourself this is just a few simple tricks done in 10 min and 2 takes and something you can reasily do yourself during lunch. This is actually alot of tricks, time consuming manual labor and a having a vision. (Which seems harder that you might think)
