In an industry where Image Theft is on the rise, local portrait photographer, Missy Mwac, is dismayed. She has spent the last week combing the Internet for web sites that feature stolen images from her website, but, as of yet, she has yet to find any. And now, she is speaking out.

“It’s not right,” she explains. “I am constantly checking to see if my best images are used elsewhere on the Internet, but so far, nobody wants to claim them as their own. I work hard creating these. I think the general public has no idea how long each piece takes me. I have to turn the whole thing black and white, and then color back in the eyes. It’s a whole lot more than a click of a button. It takes me about 12 clicks and two Photoshop Action to achieve this look and the fact that nobody wants to steal it…well, I feel discriminated against.”

Missy shared that she constantly checks www.StopStealingPhotos.com, a site dedicated to outing photography thieves, in the hopes she’ll see at least one of her images in a story.

“Every single day I check it. Sometimes twice a day. And I am just outraged, OUTRAGED that no one wants to use my work on their site. Nobody. I don’t want to say it’s because I’m a woman, but at this point, I don’t know what else to think.”

Things could, however, be looking up for this portrait photographer, thanks to her brand new logo.

“Yeah, it cost me $10 from someone in a Facebook group, but hey, this is my business. I am going to do whatever it takes to make it.”
