They say it takes a village to raise a child, and apparently, that village sometimes includes a few furry helpers too.
Having a baby is a big change for the whole family, including the pets. Some cats and dogs seem to take their new roles very seriously, staying close to the little ones and finding the funniest ways to be part of their lives.
A recent post on Threads sparked a discussion filled with adorable photos shared by parents showing their newborns with their furry companions, from cats acting as pillows to dogs keeping a close eye on their tiny humans. Scroll down to check out these sweet moments!

Postpartum made me certain that my protective, loving German shepherd was going to eat my twins. Instead she became the second mother to the girls, sleep deprived as much as I was.
One time I was doing tummy time with the smaller of the twins and she was struggling a bit, as they do, it was probably her first time, and Sadie came over nosed her feet until her head made it to the other side, and then she proceeded to put herself (the dog) in between me and the baby.
We lost our sweet Pugsly in August. There was nothing he loved more than being with his kiddos
Spent a lot of those first years pretty isolated, far from a village of regular help/visits and zero routine in our daily schedule of working full time from home basically solo.
Our pug Artie has always been there 😭
Now he’s the geriatric elder and it’s our turn to take care of him. He’s been by my side through pregnancy, every late mom night, moves, creating holiday magic, potty training, my cancer saga. Everything.

My Tuxedo Girl Neville Was Like This With Both Of My Babies
My parents said she was mean and I should get rid of her before we had kids, but she kept me sane. She developed severe kidney disease and we put her to sleep at the end of this past May. She was 16. I miss her every day.

Her 1st Spoken Word Was Jackson (Our Cat’s Name)
Jackson passed not long after she turned 2 but she (now 4) has been asking if she can get the same exact cat that she could name Jackson too. I wish it works that way kiddo 🥹
According to my baby book, one of the first half-dozen words I used consistently was "Kittigger," which was a combination of "kitty" and "Tigger," the name of the cat I grew up with. I have, genuinely, always been a cat person (and a wordsmith, apparently). My parents got Tigger as a kitten the first Christmas after they were married (from my aunt, from her cat's litter), and he lived to be 22, when I was in middle school.

These were all adorable and perfect! ;_; My parents had a Great Dane named Chashu when I was born. I am told that she never left my side and slept next to my crib. Some of my earliest memories are of toddling around while holding on to her collar. I remember putting clothespins on her ears and flews (lips) while she just sat there patiently XD She díed when I was still a toddler, unfortunately. Then my parents got Split, an Australian Shepherd mix, when I was 2 and she was 1. We were inseparable for my entire childhood. She made it to age 18 and I still miss her to this day. I believe it's incredibly valuable for a child to grow up with a pet if possible - that love is like no other.
