Who's the crazy ex in this situation? I don't know if I understand this right but I guess the ex wife (in grey text) got a call from school asking her why her daughter didn't come in that day. I don't think her reaction is wrong. Plus, she was probably worried. OP/blue text forgot to contact the school... Plus, if I understand it correctly, it's the child's uncle who died 3 years ago. I'm not saying she didn't like him or doesn't miss him, but it seems to me they pulled the kid out of school for one day for something that is probably more important for OP and his parents. The daughter really could have participated in something after school I think. To me this one doesn't fit this post.
