Trolls Tell Woman She’s ‘Too Ugly’ To Be Posting Pics Of Her Face, She Responds With 3 Selfies
Melissa Blake is a freelance writer covering relationships, disabilities and pop culture and has been featured on sites such as CNN and Cosmopolitan. She also has a popular blog called ‘So About What I Said,‘ where she gives inspiring personal insights into living with Freeman-Sheldon Syndrome, a genetic bone and muscular disorder that she has had since birth.

As well as her specialist subjects Melissa often makes forays into politics too, giving her thoughts and opinions on a variety of issues.
Unfortunately, while her opinions are just as valid as anyone else’s, some people decided to cruelly make fun of her disability after she wrote an op-ed about the president.
Sadly, Melissa has had to endure much of this kind of abuse throughout her career – some people are simply assholes.
Despite the hurtful comments though, she refuses to let the cowardly bullies – hiding behind their fake names and profile pics – get her down. Her response to the latest round of ‘trollgate’ was a clear indication of that.

While it’s easy to despair for the state of humanity and the sheer evil of these people, the horrible comments brought good people out in defense of Melissa and her work. This kind of support, love and basic humanity is what we need in these difficult times, where online bullying culture is getting louder and emboldened by certain high-profile people who encourage it.

What do you think? Have you ever been bullied by trolls online? What can we do to ensure a more civil discourse on the internet? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
Cannot believe that people would go on a public forum to insult someone's appearance, and a person with a disability too. What sad, low, pathetic subhumans they are.
That's what their idol Trump does. Remember when he mocked that journalist in a wheelchair for his spasms by imitating the spasm - all while standing on a podium in fron of thousands of people AND being filmed for tv?
Load More Replies...Reaped what she sows? That is no reason for people to be ugly to her, they are just as responsible for their actions. They too shall reap :(
Load More Replies...I know women who are the cultural idea of 'beautiful' or 'hot' and they struggle with such issues about their appearance. It's crippling for them. They spend every waking moment worrying what others think, constantly doubting themselves. No way could these particular girls take comments like these in stride. What does that tell you? Beauty is within. It's loving yourself, and projecting that beauty out into this ugly world because we so need it. I am so proud of her.
I think she has a happy face. The kind that makes you smile just looking at her. I'm glad she's keeping it real and being cool about it. Keep on posting those selfies!
yes! I agree. Happiness is so beautiful. It brings a happy feeling upon my heart to see a smile like that! Whats not to love!
Load More Replies...Good on her, she is incredible. Some people are just a******s and have nothing better to do than put others down. People just need to try and remember that these trolls are not worth it. They are sad pathetic excuses for human beings with no life. People who matter don’t care and the people who care don’t matter.
Of course, she is an absolute unique character. So? What kind of personal drama do her critics try to avoid? Keep posting, Melissa!
