Pedro Páramo Illustrated Book

This illustrated book is a tribute to a classic novel of magic realism and one of the most important works of Mexican literature. Swearing to his dying mother that he’ll find the father he has never met, Juan Preciado sets out across the barren plains of Mexico for Comala, the hallucinatory ghost town his father presided over like a feudal lord. Between the realms of the living and the dead, in fragments of dreams and the nightly whispers of Comala’s ghosts, emerges the tragic tale of Pedro Páramo.

I create three-dimensional scenes by designing and building sets and puppets from paper. Setting layers inside a miniature set, I play with lighting, filters and camera lenses to create atmospheric, graphic, and hand drawn illustrations.
