Ukrainian artist Oleksandra Malyshko from Dnipro, confined to the space of her apartment, painted her paintings to express herself during the war in her country.
She used materials at hand, sometimes cardboard, sometimes remnants of canvases. Everything the subconscious mind hid was reflected in the paintings. Perhaps you are tired of this kind of news. But people continue to live in inhumane conditions, when freedom and opportunities are limited. At this time, they do not stop to create, to make art and to transmit information about what is happening with the help of painting.
The artist likes to use line as a way for the artist to convey information to the viewer. Color, shape and line are her main assistants in creating paintings.
Some of the artwork created on small cardboard will make a good sketch for larger format canvases in the future.
Now the artist is putting together a collection of works from the past year and is contemplating an exhibition in her city.
The most difficult thing is to choose a name that does not traumatize the countrymen. we all need psychoanalysis and try to hide all that we have experienced, all that we have felt deep down. This explains the fact that visually Ukrainians want to see beauty in order to protect themselves from psychological returns to trauma.
The working title for the exhibition is “The Fire I Burned In”. You can write your recommendations to the artist and suggest your title for the future exhibition, which carried a more harmonious and relaxed title.
