Hi,

Last Friday was the inauguration of my latest monumental sculpture titled “One Swallow Does Not a Summer Make”. The spray painted aluminum mesh sculpture hangs at the center of a 6-story atrium, at the heart of the luxury department store Illum, in Copenhagen.

Here are a few words about the work:

Julie Tremblay’s immersive aluminum mesh installation One Swallow Does Not a Summer Make takes its title from an ancient Greek expression attributed to Aristotle, suggesting that a single event does not define a pattern. Inspired by swallows and their chaotic flight contrasted with precise migration, the work explores the balance between chance and control. As it spirals upward, the installation becomes a metaphor for transformation, dynamic systems, and metamorphosis, linking the earthly and the celestial. At once intimate and monumental, it reveals shifting patterns that echo nature’s interconnected forms, while also nodding to couture and fashion’s long-standing dialogue with organic structures.

Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Best,

Julie
