Full disclosure, I’m a ‘90s kid, born and bred. The ‘90s run in my veins and I’m very much a kid of that era! You wouldn’t believe the level of nostalgia I have for the era. It’s utterly ridiculous how much I miss watching Sunday morning cartoons while eating a huge bowl of cereal and playing with my beloved toys. (All at once, of course—I’m a fantastic multitasker when it comes to doing the things that I love.)

I’ve still got a huge box of toys from my childhood that I love to go through from time to time. And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t pop in some batteries to play Mario, Donkey Kong, and Pokémon on my GameBoy Color when I feel like I need a break from ‘The Real World.’ When it rains, when I get the blues—it’s nostalgia time. And a yearning for a more carefree era in my life. However, we here at Bored Panda know that there are lots of you Pandas who are nostalgic for the '70s, '80s, and ‘90s, so we’ve compiled this fun list of the toys you likely played with during that decade. Keep in mind that some of these toys are from even earlier still, but they were still very popular in the '70s, '80s, and '90s. Growing up with them was great!

Oh, and don’t forget to upvote the toys that you loved playing with the most. We’d also love to hear about what your fondest memories and favorite toys were from your childhood, so don’t be shy and drop on by the comment section. Ready to plunge straight into the Land of Nostalgia? Let’s go!

I basically make about $6,000-$8,000 a month online. It’s enough to comfortably replace my old jobs income, especially considering I only work about 10-13 hours a week from home. I was amazed how easy it was after I tried it….. ===))> 𝐖𝐰𝐰.𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤.𝐂𝐨𝐦

So when I was about 5 I had a couple of these - one of them was a really detailed underwater one with octopuses and a shipwreck (think kid friendly HP Lovecraft vibes!)...when I got thirsty in the night I used to open it and drink out of it - it didn't seem to bother me that it tasted very, VERY weird. My mother caught me...and lets just say I remember the screaming that ensued pretty vividly!

I had one of these, and I never ever managed to produce anything like that! If I had, that would have been it, it would never be used again to preserve my creation. It would have been so much better if there had been some way to make a permanent copy of what you had drawn.

This isn’t the first time that Bored Panda has tackled the topic of nostalgia (here are two great posts by yours truly if you're feeling any nostalgia for my writing). London-based child and adolescent therapist Kemi Omijeh, who is a member of the BACP, went into detail about nostalgia with me on two previous occasions. She explained that our memories of the past can contribute to our sense of self and well-being.

"The period of time we tend to be nostalgic over are significant moments that stood out. Perhaps it was a time when we felt happiest or safest, or perhaps it’s a period where things changed for us,” she told Bored Panda.

There are still at least 2 of those machines in my city. It costs 20 cents to get something. 1 has bouncy balls (and if you're less fortunate as an adult, some horrid chewing gum balls), the other one has tiny plastic eggs with a toy or plastic jewelery inside. A few times a year I walk past one and if I have a 20 cent coin I always get something out (have been an adult for many many years lol). Edit: and leave a coin in it of course, so the next kid passing and trying the machine will feel ever so lucky. If you ever pass one of these machines and have a coin it takes please put it in there

It's dangerous for the people passing in the street. A ball that falls down from an eight floor gets a high velocity from so high.

I and my brothers shared Lite Bright,View Master Reels (mostly the ones about animals, countries,I had an Etch A Sketch (but wasn't artistic though),I had a Barbie while my brothers had original GI Joe and the Hulk "dolls".We had tons of board games at home and at school (like Ants in the Pants, Don't Break the Ice, Operation and Don't Spill the Beans)I esp loved A Barrel of Monkeys because they could be played alone or with my brothers and parents. According to therapist Omijeh, what a specific time period means to us is far more important than what age we were during the period of time. "Our memories of the past can change over time depending on how often we revisit and also depending on what is going on for us in the present,” she said.

Omijeh noted that who we were during each decade will change our impressions of the time period. So, while she jokes that “oh course, the ‘90s was better!”, she also notes that she might be biased in this particular case.

“Generally speaking, the better decade is associated with youth and freedom. Nostalgia also often gives us rose-tinted glasses from which to reflect from. How we reflect on the past decades can play a part in how we engage with the current decade."

Earlier still, Omijeh explained to Bored Panda that we tend to feel nostalgic for those time periods where we felt loved and nurtured. Meanwhile, if we had a difficult childhood, odds are, we won’t have much nostalgia for it.

I can't believe that these were like $50 when they came out. I wasn't allowed to have one coz they were so expensive. I finally got one when they were reduced to $15 but unfortunately that was after the popularity died down, so I didn't play with it much.

My son wanted a Tamagotchi soooo bad. Got him one for Christmas. He was 7 years old and had lost his dad the previous summer. The Tamagotchi he got was a dragon and he named it after his dad. When he woke up the next morning it had died during the night. Needless to say it was not a good Christmas at all that year.

"Nostalgia can also be a good coping strategy for times of low mood and challenges," she said, adding that nostalgia can also start to become a problem if it interferes with our everyday lives, as well as our ability to be present in the current moment.

"If we end up comparing it to our experiences today and feeling like nothing is as good as it was, then this will inevitably affect our mood and our ability to do what we need to do. That game almost killed me! I was 4 and got the metal ball stuck in my throat. My father yelled for my sister to go get a knife while he shook me up and down by my ankle. Then a whap on the back and it came out. Glad the knife wasn't necessary.

There was another kind before these--two larger, very hard acrylic (?) balls on strings. You started by bouncing them against one another and worked up to having them collide at both the top and bottom of the pattern. You could knock yourself out with those, and when they broke, shards flew everywhere. These were tame by comparison!

You could press it on a comic in the paper and you'd get a copy on the putty. I also found out that it's hard to get out of a shag carpet once you mash it in. That and play dough.

Flubber. The original with Fred MacMurray was better than the Robin Williams version IMHO. To be fair, it's been years since I've seen either version so it could just be nostalgia talking.

When I was little, I had a babysitter that would bring slime for my brother and me. We would throw it up to make it stick to the ceiling, and ‘who’s ever fell to the floor first, the winner would take their slime once it fell and throw it at the other person’s face 😆

I still have my original one. Got her when I wasn't even a year old yet. They were the hottest toy of the year, and my older brother said that it was the only thing he wanted for x-mas. So my poor parents hunted around for them to no avail, when my dad and one of his co-workers heard about a RUMOUR that a store was going to be getting stock of them in. So they both left work early (unheard of for my dad) to nab a couple. How can I get rid of her after all that?! I even still have her original 'adoption' papers!

Loved my SNES and Loooooved the game 7th Saga. Only RPG game made where if you advanced to the next side of the map too fast without leveling up enough, you were too weak to fight the new monsters and had to start all over. Definitely an under rated game.

I would save up my pennies in one of those giant crayon banks, and when it was filled up I'd spend an evening rolling them up while watching TV. Then I'd spend my rolled up pennies on Crash Test Dummies toys. They were honestly the stupidest idea for a toy. Designed to fall apart into a bunch of tiny pieces. Eventually you just have a couple full figures of unmatching patchwork parts, the spring-loaded limb joints barely holding on. The dog and cat were cute though. Hubcat and Bumper.
