“She Called The Police And They Laughed”: Couple Hang Laundry Line To Block Neighbor’s View Of Their Home After She Installs 5 Cameras
Sadly, we don’t get to pick our neighbors. And while in many cases neighbors are either friendly, kind and caring, or perhaps even neutral and stay out of everyone’s way, there can be times when they’ll be one of those neighbors from hell we’ve been hearing about on the internet.
This is the story of the latter.
This woman shared a handful of TikTok videos detailing her battle with her neighbor’s decision to install security cameras that just so happen to be facing her house.

TikToker Megan C. Reid has recently been drawing in a crowd on the platform with her series of “crazy neighbor” videos. In them, she details how her neighbor seems to have installed five security cameras on her house, all of which, according to Reid, are pointed at her front door and driveway. And this is besides the built in front door camera.
Now, her response to this was to put up a clothes line and dry all of her gigantic (and hence concealing) laundry there. An ingenious and uninvasive way to fend off nosy neighbors.
So, this woman shared how her neighbor decided to pop 5 surveillance cameras on her house, and they happen to be facing her driveway and front door

But, instead of complaining or yelling or whatever, she took it upon herself to build a wall of drying laundry to cover her property

She shows how her partner hangs up the clothes line along with all of the laundry, and this isn’t just bed sheets, but also some colorful additions, like a superman costume, a shirt with a no photography logo, and another piece of attire saying “Dryer Broke” and “I Win.”
Throughout her videos, Reid also gives a glimpse into what her neighbor is like, referring to her as ‘Karen’ and pointing out that the neighbor was actually charged for harassment.

The videos also showcase the locations and views of the cameras and how the neighbor reacts whenever Reid lets the dogs out to run around in their fenced-off yard (hella loud alarm is set off), framing a picture of a pretty difficult neighbor to deal with.
According to Reid, her neighbor has also called the police once all of the laundry was up. Well, the police showed up and just laughed. You can’t arrest someone if they’re putting up huge pieces of laundry on their property, right?

Now, Reid herself has cameras as well—the one she showed was pointed at her back yard, she got them because of the dogs, and she showed her entire history of recording. She supplements with another video showing from her neighbor’s camera, which can see through her and her step daughter’s bedroom windows.
This amusing laundry saga has managed to draw quite a crowd on TikTok, with the first video getting over 2.7 million views, and two subsequent videos garnering another 1.1 and 1.6 million views. Collectively, the videos have garnered over 600,000 likes.

I'd like to hear the other side of the story. Obviously there's a history here because FIVE cameras? And also, the laundry saying "I win" - if there's nothing going on here and this is simply an isolated reaction to 5 cameras going up, what are you winning?

Yes, I would like to know the entire story here. We don't get any backstory about either neighbor and what happened to start all of this. She may be a crazy neighbor herself (I doubt it) but we don't know for sure.

In the US it is illegal to record in someones private property without their permission. You can easily sue a neighbor pointing a camera onto your property

If they have children, I would make a complaint that the neighbor with the cameras is a possible pedophile who is preying on their children. I bet the law would make the crazy ass neighbor take them down real quick.

It's certainly illegal in most states. Probably all. But you have to recognize that we are semi-autonomous states in the U.S., and criminal law is usually a state matter unless it's of a national nature (and yes, Congress tries desperately as of the last several decades to assert everything is the federal government's prerogative to regulate and control). But your constant attempts to bash on the U.S. is once again noted.

My neighbor asked to put a camera over my door to keep an eye on HER property. Because I know her personally, and it made sense, I let her. I don't understand having cameras pointed at your neighbor unless you are wanting to watch them. I wonder what exactly is going on here, if there's been an on going feud or something? Either way, pointing 5 cameras at your neighbor is excessive and antagonistic.

I don't know how this started, but I actually had to install cameras on my property after I cough my neighbor climbing in my tree to cut a branch that disturbed him, it's not even on his side. when I told him to get off my property he hit me with his hand saw... I'm a woman the entire neighborhood saw it, some witness confronted him he ran hiding in his house like a coward. Next time I will have video proof to give the police.

Why does the neighbor need 5 cameras that are pointing at the other neighbors house, in there bedroom windows!!! Sounds suspicious to me and personally, I would not like that! The other neighbor has 1 camera, pointing to her own backyard to see her own dogs! Gotta wonder about the 5 camera neighbor!!!

Luckily, I live in an apartment, so this is not a thing -- also hanging laundry would not be allowed. However they do have security cameras at all entrances, but everyone knows about that.

I wouldn't be too certain about that. Cameras are becoming extremely cheap (like literally in the 30 dollar range). My previous hell neighbors installed a camera outside their window that followed and tracked every single person that walked by their building to the parking lot. It was awful and the Landlord couldn't do anything about it due to not having it in their lease agreement.

So the weirdo neighbor broke out one of their specialty windows to install yet another camera? Broke their own window? Who TF does that? I’ll tell you who: people who have no life, so have to live vicariously through their neighbors. People who are so bored they have to stir the pot and create excitement in their lives by meddling in other people’s lives. People who only thrive in chaos. People who can only feel good about themselves by making someone else feel bad about themself. And, in this case, dog-haters. The police should’ve laughed at the laundry, then gotten out the straight jacket and taken the neighbor away to some nice facility where they’ll be treated for their…affliction.

My daughter and son in law bought a newly built home in a older subdivision in 2017 gaining a crazy neighbor and her creepy son at the same time. They recently moved about 3 weeks ago which was Christmas in July. I moved in with them the same day they did and from day one she was on. She would stand just where she thought she wasn't visible at her front door, with the main door open and just behind the glass storm door and watch you the entire time you're outside. For every new person, she'd make a b-line straight for you and play 50 questions and ask about each person that'd been at your house in vivid detail. Had a birthday party, filled driveway, yard, and then 2 wheels grass and 2 on the street straddling small drainage ditch in front of house, she called the police. Granted there are signs all over subdivision saying no parking on street but everyone does all the time and no one gets tickets ever, so some guests left early. She did the same to her. The new neighbors next door to us that moved in a month later, that listen to her gossip did the same thing nearly every weekend as a large family gathering and directly affected her driveway straight across from her, she never called the police. She called the dog warden on us at least 12 times,after the 4-5th call he told us who it was and said he was sorry but forced to investigate the call. Lies from not having food and water, to not having shelter to get in out of rain,but of course he had a house he just wasn't in it atm. She couldn't see if he had food or water and even once told them that we were letting a black dog out our front door, unleashed, into the yard, but that wasn't us that was her friends next door to us with their black Pom. Our dog was large and brown and we let the dog warden in to see we didn't have the black dog. She would check both sides of her vehicle every time she came outside like she was afraid someone did something to it.

My former crazy neighbor had cameras mounted all over her house, partly because she was paranoid, and partly because her main hobby was calling the police. She called the police because one neighbor let their 12 year old son mow the yard, and she didn't like it. She called the police because she didn't like that another neighbor had a dog door for their dog to be able to use the backyard during the day. She called the police on me because my motion sensor security lights came on when she was creeping around snooping. She finally moved, but she made the whole neighborhood living hell while she was here. She called the cops 387 times in one year, until they finally told her they were going to start charging for nuisance calls.

Just as others have said, we need the whole story, a person must be loopy, to do such a thing, especially if they don't have a good reason, I would deal with it legally !!!

When the police arrived, I would have lodged a complaint about harassment and invasion of privacy re the cameras. I doubt the police would laugh at that. At least they shouldn't
