My Mom Is Disgusted With The Way I Look

25

RELATED:

I have long hair, wear skinny jeans and I got my nose and both ears pierced. So, I have all the things that my parents hate. My mom keeps accusing me of being gay only because of my style. She constantly hits me with homophobic slurs and harsh comments, even though I’m straight.

It's sad that your mom can't accept you the way you are. I think she is more scared what other people think. The fact is, being gay isn't wrong or bad, and it's not a slur. Maybe you could tell her that one day.

What kind of mother does that? Should love your kids for who they are and how they choose to live that includes dress.....I think his mum is emotionally abusive. She has serious issues

Your mom sounds like a very unhappy person with a flawed and toxic perspective. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Best wishes for a positive future where you can feel free to express your own style without your mother's toxic judgement.

Some people just were raised to hate anything they don't think is accepted and it's failing and this mom knows it and that's why she keeps doing it because she can't accept the fact you can't change who someone is by being a jerk so she keeps trying and getting madder and madder and when she finally realizes how wrong she was it will be to late to apologize.

I can't tell you how deeply I understand this. Do you still live with your parents? I would first try talking to a counselor. Your school probably has one and stuff like this is exactly what they're there for. They might have some great suggestions for you :) Do your friends know? Sometimes it's so embarrassing to tell them, especially if you feel like they don't understand either. But I bet you that if they're truly a good friend, one of them will get you. If their parents are decent people, perhaps you could live with them for a little while? If it gets worse, you can talk to the authorities and report your mother for mental and emotional abuse. They won't take you away, but they WILL give you help. No one deserves to live like this. It's not healthy for you. I hope you find help and hope <3

I am 28 now, so my mom doesn´t really care anymore. When I was younger, also didn´t like the way I dressed or my hair. But I cannot imagine her being like that. Even if he is gay, or bi, or straight, it is still your child and you should love him no matter what. Like, she and the dad broke up, being straight and normal dressed aparently doesn´t give you happiness in life.

She's only concerned but yet to develop the understanding that you're free to make yourself look however you please. I'd say you keep trying and make her understand the difference between your appearnce and your sexual interest.
