My name is Jan Skidmore and I have been making art for many years. I started drawing which eventually went to painting and artistic crafting. I also used to do murals in restaurants, night clubs and homes. About 7 years ago I developed a chronic pain condition called RSD after neck surgery. This affects my hands and arms that it effected my everyday life by limiting me physically. So I decided to do different ways of creating…..thus my ripped paper art, art books and artistic cards came to fruition. I also like using recyclable objects whenever I can in my work, especially in my shadow boxes which I do for my enjoyment. I love when people are interested in my projects and hopefully brings a smile to their faces. Art has been a wonderful healer for me throughout my life and it helps distract me from the constant pain I experience on a daily basis. I am grateful though that I still have use of these hands and arms no matter the discomfort. So goes the story if my creative life!
