May, mother’s month
From ancient Greece, there were celebrations at the
entrance of spring, in honor of Reia, mother of Zeus and considered matriarch of all the gods. But this ancestral feast was lost, and today’s Mother’s Day came only at the beginning of the last century in the United States as a tribute to women who lost their children in the American Civil War. The American Anna Jarvis managed to officially officiate the holiday in her city, Webster, then in the state of West Virginia and, in 1914, the holiday became national throughout the country.
In the animal world the love between mother and child is exactly like that of humans! I selected some wonderful images.
