My 45 Pics Of A Miniature City From ‘Salem’s Lot’ I Built As A Tribute To Stephen King
With my latest model “Nightfall in the Lot” I return one more time to the literary world of Stephen King. This time I decided to realize “Salem’s Lot”, one of the very few highly praised classics of the vampire genre.
What still enchants me about the novel after so many years is its melancholic autumnal mood and its elegantly woven, fragmentarily narrative perspective. In almost lyrical visual language, King constructs his seemingly simple story about the creeping decline of a city on the example of numerous individual fates. It was the complexity of the story from the numerous perspectives of its inhabitants that I wanted to reflect in my very personal realization of the novel.
So I used a constructional idea that I had previously fancied – the principle of a rotating world. This is why my Jerusalem Lot is set upon a rotating disk. Each little twist offers the viewer new perspectives and insights into other parts of the city, into other stories and aspects of its downfall. Only one view stays the same from every angle in the city: the view of the Marsten House, that legendary old estate in the center that oozes out all evil while the viewer never approaches it.

Wow. This is fantastic. I love it. I've read the book a couple times but it's been a few years. When I'm done re-reading The Stand I'm going to read this one again. I really hope Stephen King sees this. I thought I was a big fan..oh man
No, no and again NO! What kind of a sorcerer are you?! Damn. The level of detail, the craftsmanship, the photography ... And now you are forcing me to read the book, on top of it! Wow! I am impressed.
This is so malevolent and magical to me. I hope it finds it's way to Mr. King and he is blown away as well. I vividly recall watching the two part mini series that came on TV when I was 7 with my mother and grandmother. I loved it, but had just as vivid nightmares for years after watching. It has still been my favorite as an adult. Your model is so amazing that I could easily envision the characters there. Hoping to see the movie again soon. Thanks for sharing your work with us.
Wow. My favorite of King's Novels an my favorite Novel period. Mostly because the town reminds me so much of the small town in upstate NY I grew up in. I would buy this if it was for sale. Well done.
I have read this a few times. The only books I liked as much (maybe even a little more) were the Jonathan Maberry Ghost Road Blues books. They're similar as in a vampire invasion in a small town and set during Halloween.
Oh, I read those. If you have the time/money to read only one, I would suggest the last one, "Bad Moon Rising."

I think that somehow the comment section messed up a little. Mario Unger thinks that people are responding to one of his original posts. He is the guy behind the posts with old photos being colored. So I doubt he is trying to get credit here. Obviously a mixup. So stop and think before you hate :)

How long did it take to build? How did you get into doing things like this? It is way beyond the level of crafting.
Hey thanks =) Working on the model itself took me from June 2018 till Mai 2019, what means something about 1700 hours. After that we spent something about 2 months with photography and editing. And how I got into doing this - I've always spent a lot of time painting oil and building stuff. Then one day I found a model building platform on the internet and wanted to try out the technique - and got stuck =)
