I am Marco Valmarana, a young photographer based in Venice. One month ago, the web to print company Pixartprinting called me to propose the participation in an amazing project. They wanted to talk about sign shops, design and creativity through people’s stories.

Milan Re-tale: the city history through its shop signs, was born with the idea of “giving voice” to the traditional places from Milan to recuperate the know-how, the creativity and the esthetics values from the past. The modern city of Milan also has a rich and traditional past; and, there is a connection with the present. We have spoken with the thirty places that took part of the project to learn about the highlights of their business, their subject and the aspects they have worked for years.

We were two days in Milan visiting historical shops to take pictures of the entrances of the locals to bring you the most classic part of the city. Here below you can see some pictures of our work. If you click the link you could see all the pictures with the stories.
