Designers Are Challenged To Mash Up Movie Posters For This Contest, And Here Are 30 Of The Best
When you think of movies as popular as Titanic or Pride & Prejudice, it’s hard to imagine them as anything other than what we’ve come to know and love. Which makes it even funnier to see them mixed up with other films that have literally nothing to do with them. Luckily, the website Designcrowd often hosts Photoshop contests on their platform to put designers’ creativity to the test.
This time, the game is called Mate a Movie, and the participants had to mix together 2 different movies into 1 cinematic poster. Scroll down to see the results and pick your favorite.

A movie poster, like most other means of marketing, seems like a given nowadays and few people stop to think about how it all started. Turns out, the first promotional movie poster was created in 1895 for the French short L’Arroseur Arrosé, which was the earliest known fictional comedy film. In the olden days, cinemas would only have one screen to show a single film, so putting up posters outside was pretty integral to getting the audience interested.
Snap, snap, Snape. What was that spell Ron used to clean his handkerchief? Couldn't Snape have cleaned his hair with that?
There's something sexy about a humanoid in a mask....
Load More Replies...Welp, Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies exists, so why not....I guess.
If done right, a movie poster can become just as memorable and iconic as the film itself. We’re certain that clear poster images pop into your head when you hear titles like Titanic, Harry Potter, or Avengers. This makes it so fun to see the designs from these contests as you wouldn’t normally imagine Babe the pig in the place of Marley from Marley & Me.
When talking about truly old and iconic movie posters, it can be surprising to hear the value they now have. The collectibles market in film posters is thriving and the first auction solely by a major auction house took place on December 11, 1990. The record price for a movie poster was set in 2005 when a poster of Fritz Lang's 1927 film Metropolis totaled $690,000.
This is the third sequel after Night of the Living Dead and Night of the Living Deb.
You didn't shrink Chuck Norris... Your ray rebounded off his chest hair and caused the rest of the stuff in Earth to grow
One time I used a sharpie to write Norris on another sharpie, threw it, and yelled "CHUCK NORRIS!" lmfao I was in 6th grade in the hallway doing a project. Mr. h told me to get back to work but definitely thought I was funny-
Would it kind of be like the movie "Small Soldiers" from the 90s? If so, count me in.
I like the actual Harry Potter movie poster, but this is stunning 2
2? You just couldn't be bothered with two extra letters after that sentence, eh? 🤦♂️
Load More Replies...No, but for what ever reason they have to work together to save the world because...um...if they don't no more teenagers to murder? 10/10 would watch.
There actually is a movie called the britannic based off of the sister ship of the Titanic and how that one sank
Britannic was converted to a hospital ship during WWI, and sunk in the Mediterranean after supposedly hitting a mine. There's always been controversy as to whether the ship was torpedoed or carrying ammunition (which was a big no-no), and that's why it suffered so much damage and sank in less than an hour. Only 30 people lost their lives (out of the 1066 people on board, due to abundant life boats and warmer waters). Nobody talks about RMS Olympic, the first of three sisters built, because her voyage didn't end in tragedy. She was taken over by the Royal Navy and converted into a armed troop transport during WWI (where she destroyed a German U-boat before it could fire its torpedoes) , survived, and returned to passenger service until being retired & scrapped in 1935.
Well, it did sink and mangle a couple dozen people up in propellers. Could definitely put butts in seats.
I am NOT explaining this hysterical laughter to my coworkers
Load More Replies...This is cruel considering his character couldn't have children.
Before I scrolled down to the Title and the words, it looks like a meme
The Xenomorph's size would suggest that she is a child. Wtf is going on here?
I bet that Ridley Scott would make a better Transformers movie then what we've been getting.
This honestly looks awesome! I would watch if this was an UP sequel
That's because you miss the point of how title mashups work.
Load More Replies...Simply making them blue and adding ears doesn't make them Na'vi. Even if the mashup made sense, the work is halfassed.
The idea is to mashup posters to create a new one. Not to stick to the cannon of both films.
Load More Replies...They sound better than a lot of the actual movies Hollywood churns out.
