When we bought the house on Isabela island, Galápagos in 1998 there was a small colony of marine iguanas living in the ruble. The local kids offered to scare away all seven iguanas for $20. We decided to slowly reform the structure with the criteria that when finished, the iguana colony would still be there. The marine iguana colony has been at the pink house and thriving for at least 30 years. Total number is over four hundred in the colony year round. Hatchlimgs numbered , aproximately, 130 for each of last three years. They all live in a natural habitat which is our lava rock garden and feed in the ocean twenty meters away.
