“Divorcing Against My Will”: Wife Refuses To Forgive Husband Who Asked For A Paternity Test
Genetics can be a strange thing. Mom and dad both have jet black hair and baby arrives with a thick crop of fiery, red strands. Or, the infant enters the world with piercing blue eyes, despite their biological parents having brown eyes. Some may scream “infidelity!” but a DNA test can prove that’s definitely not the case.
Ask one guy, who insisted on a paternity test for his middle son. The man has been married for over a decade but has always been suspicious because, “he just doesn’t have any of my family features.” He was somewhat relieved when the test proved the child is in fact his. But it was short-lived… His wife is livid that he’d accuse her of cheating, and she wants a divorce.

Siblings don’t always look like each other and here’s why, according to experts
A child inherits DNA from both biological parents. He or she can look a lot like their mother, or their father, but sometimes they don’t closely resemble either. At the same time, siblings can look very similar or nothing alike. That’s because each child is their own randomly selected genetic combination.
“Biological children share 50% of their DNA with each of their birth parents and siblings from the same parents, so there’s plenty of room for variation. If blood-related siblings end up looking alike, the mix of genes they inherited from their parents were similar,” explains Parents.com. “But each child may also get genetic ‘instructions’ for different features. For instance, a firstborn child may have one parent’s lips, while the youngest may get their lips from the other parent.”
When it comes to hair color, we inherit multiple gene pairs, each with one gene from each parent.
“For example, a baby who inherits 10 gene pairs has a total of 20 different genes that could affect their hair color and type,” says Michael Begleiter, a genetic counselor at Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City, Missouri.
It’s possible for two brunette parents to have a blonde baby. That’s because both parents carry recessive blonde genes among their dominant brown ones, but only their light-colored genes were passed on.
Similarly, a mother and father can both have brown eyes, while one of their children has green or blue eyes.
“At least two genes influence the eye shade that develops, and each can come in two forms, also known as alleles: one that has brown and blue versions, and one that has green and blue versions,” say the experts. “A baby’s eye color will depend on the combination of alleles they inherit from each parent.”
Environmental factors can also play a part in siblings not looking the same, especially when it comes to height. According to the team at Heritage Consulting Genealogy Research Services, if a person was undernourished during puberty, it is likely that they will be shorter than a sibling who wasn’t.
“Other things that can be affected by the environment include weight, personality, and intellect,” notes that site.

My late husband had brown hair, blue eyes and a ruddy complexion, I have blonde hair, hazel eyes & I'm pale. Our first has brown hair like her dad w brown eyes & lovely olive skin, our son is blond w blue eyes & fair. They don't look anything alike, don't look like siblings, our daughter favors my older bro, who had brown hair & eyes but he was fair skinned. Our son looks more like my dad and younger bros than anyone on my hubs side. They are all blond, blue eyed & fair. Genetics can throw come curve balls, no one on either side had an olive complexion & she looks like and gets confused as Hispanic still, & the funniest part is her girls are blonde, oldest w blue eyes, middle hazel & both fair, her son, brown hair & eyes & fair. You never know what combination you'll get from which side and recessive genes can pop up anytime

And not everyone with the same hair color will have the same eye color. My dad and his two sisters all have blonde hair but they all have different eye colors. My dad had grey eyes (past tense had because he is deceased) and then one of his sisters has brown eyes and the other one has green eyes. Everyone still knew they were full blooded siblings despite having different eye colors. Genetics are crazy you never know what you'll get.

My parents have 3 children, I’m the middle child and I am an exact copy of my mother, except for my eyes which are brown like my dad’s. My siblings look exactly like my dad except for their eyes which are blue like my mother’s. My dad never demanded a paternity test, he never treated me any differently than my siblings. I'm ADOPTED and no one ever thought I wasn't my parents' biological child if they didn't already know I was adopted XD if people understood how recessive/dominant traits worked, no one would ever think I was my parents' child - dad was Swedish/Norwegian stereotype (pale blond hair, ice blue eyes) and my mother is Mexican XD They had one biological child, my adoptive sister, who has brown skin, brown eyes, and brown hair (surprise.) No one ever pointed fingers at my family and screeched "Not yours!!" or assumed/inferred that one of my parents cheated and that I'm the affair baby XD The fact that OP doesn't understand genetics in the SLIGHTEST and also shows absolutely no urge to study it, even after being resoundingly proven wrong both literally and in the court of opinion, is very telling. (My dad never treated my sister and I differently, even though one of us was his biological child and the other wasn't. He treated us both like his daughters - which is what we were.)

Here's the good advice you need. Next time you meet your (ex)wife, get on your knees, press your head to the ground and admit that you have been a fool, a lousy father and husband and a piece of garbage for a man. Then let her and the kids have the time they need to get over the worst of their feelings while you keep supporting them in any other way but forcing them to be somewhere they do not want to be. Start there and see where it leads while you let them decide when and whether to take the next step. Maybe, in a few years, you will have regained some kind of relationship with your children.

I had assumed that the child was clueless about what's going on, and that the conflict was only between the parents and could possibly be resolved through couples' counseling. But no, not only did the boy know, it turns out OP also treated him so differently that the kid thought his dad hated him. Dear lord, that's messed up.

He openly admits the boy looks like his wifes grandfather, there have been instances of people giving birth to a child that looks like a completely different race and it's still theirs genetically. He obviously doesn't understand DNA. He has three kids two look like him and one looks like his wife's side of the family and he is still suspicious this man is a d*****s and deserves everything coming to him.

He went to his parents, and even *they* told him he’s manure, but he’s trying SO hard to find someone, *anyone* to tell him he did the right thing. This guy is just d**n stupid! He could have talked to a doctor about why his son looks different (sounds like he doesn't figure HER GENES mean anything!). He's an a*s-hole for doing the test and making his middle son think he doesn't love him! I'd separate from him for a while to see what happens while he grovels and begs his family to forgive him. He was the jerk, so it's all on him! Not trusting your wife (all due to stupidity) means he has to really crawl on his knees, and if he can't, she can tell him to go to hell and divorce him later!

Wow, the more this guy posts the worse it gets. I'm not ever eure OP even really cares about his wife and kids but he just doesn't want to be the first and only member of his family to be divorced. He was a narcissist in getting a paternity test and he is one now as its all about how divorce will look to outsiders. I hope his wife never gets back with him and the kids write him off too.

I hope she went through with the divorce. What a self-centered idiot. How could she stay married for so many years to somebody like that, this can't be his only "flaw" or the only time he acted badly. I wonder with what else she put up in those years. He does not get 1% of her viewpoint and is acting like a toddler "but but but he doesn't look like me wuah wuah"... and then for treating that poor child badly because of that! My sister vaguely resembles my father, but VAGUELY - only if you know. I don't resemble neither one, not even remotely. Very few say I have the bright eyes of my grandmother's side, but that's about it. If you see photos of our family of four, nobody would even guess we are related. And still, nobody for one second even questioned anything. He is a complete Ahole and she should get rid of him asap and make sure that poor child hasn't any emotional damage because of the father's behaviour.

Notice that in all of his defensive comments and his original post he's never said, "I don't want to lose my wife and kids because I love them and they're the most important thing to me." My ex accused me with my middle son because he was blond hair and blue eyed just like me. No paternity test was asked for in my case and I would have said sure thing d******d. I took all 3 of my children and left him anyway. Spoiler alert that middle son is a grown man and he may not look like the biological idiot but FFS his voice is identical to his. It’s unnerving at times. My ex disappeared 20 years ago and my kids have heard nothing from him and no I didn’t assist in his disappearance he was and probably still is a complete piece of work. I raised them alone they all have college degrees and that middle son he was so worried about is a PhD

He's hopeless. Genetics can be weird. My brother and I look nothing alike. He's blond while I'm brunette. He has blue eyes and I have brown eyes. Our facial features look nothing alike. But he is the spitting image of my mother (with my father's blond hair), and I look like my father (with my mother's brunette hair). My daughter looked just like her father until she was a few months old, whereupon she has looked exactly like me ever since.
