Face it, video equipment is quite expensive. And the bigger your production is, the more expensive it can get, so finding ways to mimic the effect without spending a dime is essential.

Don’t fret because there is a solution. Creative Director Karen X. Cheng makes videos explaining the low-budget ways you could make your production look as professional as any high-budget movie studio.

Bullet-time, zoom effect, vertigo—you name it, she did it spending no more than a couple of bucks if not nothing at all. Bored Panda collected some of the best videos she has put up on her Instagram, so check them out below. And while you’re down there, why not vote and comment on the best ones!

Except her camera wasn't able to zoom in as it moved away.

That is a dolly in zoom out. So it was used in Vertigo on the stairway in the tower. You need something solid for the camera. This is very old and this guy is cashing in on rehashing old tricks.

Not even remotely looking like the matrix effect, which they did with a table.

Ok, so she looks like she's just standing on one leg. These are pretty rubbish, aren't they?

LOL. We did the camera-on-a-stick thing for a school project once, and it worked out great. But I think I wouldn’t call using a 360 degree camera “low budget”.

Except her camera was spinning round wildly as it was lowered.

Indeed. Again I don't understand the downvotes. Is there some rule here on BP that you can't point out the truth? The video she shows is definitely not the video she recorded in her demo.

Or learn to fly a quad. It's really fun and not all that expensive.
