Couple Surprised After They Buy A Tiny Kitty, And It Grows To Be The World’s Longest Cat

Cat owner Stephy Hirst from Australia always thought her kitty Omar was a big fellow – but she was still surprised when Guinness Records contacted her saying he might be the longest feline in the world. “At first I thought ‘is this real?’,” said the Hirst. “We thought he might be (the longest cat in the world) but we hadn’t done anything about it because he might not be fully grown yet.”

“(Omar) was tiny when we got him but then he just started growing and was at 22 lbs one year old”. Recently, Hirst decided to measure Omar and he came in around 3.93 ft weighing 30.86 lbs. Up until now, this Guinness title belonged to UK-based Maine Coon Ludo, who is measured at around 3.88 ft.

After the kitty’s picture was shared on Cats Of Instagram, Omar became famous. However, he still keeps his daily routine, which includes waking up at 5 AM, eating kibble for breakfast, napping outside on the trampoline, and enjoying some raw kangaroo meat for dinner.

“He sleeps on the couch … because he takes up too much room on the bed and he demands we cuddle and pet him all through the night”. Hirst says her husband always wanted a big cat – well, now it looks like they have one!

The photo of him sitting beside the dog just shows how big he really is. The dog, a rough collie, is a medium sized dogs. Cats are usually less than half their size.

Oversized pets are the best. Make sure you guys look after him - oversized animals tend to suffer bone structure related problems

When you say from nose to tail, has the measurement been taken from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail or just to his bum where his tail starts ?

Omar is a very beautiful cat. I don't think raw meat could possibly be good for him though!

Raw meat is much better for them than processed canned food. With raw meat you know they're getting pure food and not the crappy parts of animals that are ground up and bulked up with carbs. My cat Spook eats tinned meat, but when my husband catches fresh fish, he lives on that and drops body weight. Kangaroo meat is widely used in Australia and for those overseas readers, we actually cull them because they are a pest in that they eat all the vegetation depriving the livestock on farms of food.

He is one big kitty! Gorgeous, probably a Marmalade type as they are pretty big to begin with, and they are SUPER friendly and cuddly.
