Autism is talked about quite often, but very rarely is it portrayed in media, and even more rarely do we see it explained properly. That's where this amazing comics creator known as AspiGurl comes in. She creates funny, quirky, and sweet comics about her life and the struggles she runs into as an autistic girl. We get to read the comics and better understand from the view of a person with the developmental disorder.

The comics are colorful and have unexpected endings. The illustrations will probably make you laugh and relate many times. It's interesting to see the perspective of someone who sees social events, situations, and everyday life from a different perspective.

Aspigurl told us more about when and why she started creating these comics: "I had the idea for the comic back in 2018. It was almost April and I was kind of dreading the usual ableist posts that we always see around that time for Autism Awareness Month. My husband wtframecomics, who illustrates the comic, and I decided to post a comic each day of that April and we just kept making them!"

@imposter autistic people like to have a routine, which includes eating/doing a lot of the same things. Even though it may seem unnatural to some people, like yourself, it's normal to people who are autistic(like me). I usually have a burrito.

Even a lot of neurotypical people have the same breakfast everyday, or almost.

I am not sure why @impostor got so many down votes, I read the reply as an exclamation of just one slice of bread/toast and jam not being enough to start you out on the day. Some people are big breakfast people, some cannot even stomach the idea of it at all.

I know this because I had a friend who had autism. Sometimes people with Autism like to make a process every day so what she might have is her process for breakfast is making toast with Jam. And that's sometimes the reason why they have the same thing every day.

She also told us what motivated her to keep creating these comics: "One of the biggest motivations for making the comic is to give other autistic people content to relate to and maybe even illustrations that might help explain and express their lived experiences (same for non-autistics: it can help them have another point of view on autism.)"

On her website, Aspigurl describes herself as "a comic putting forward the voice of autistic people through anecdotes or reflections from everyday life. As there are as many autisms as there are autistic people, it seemed important to us to put forward this diversity by also receiving comic suggestions from autistic readers."

What do you think of these comics? Have they taught you anything new about autism and how people living with this disorder see the world? Perhaps you have autism yourself and can share your side and view? Tell us in the comments down below and don't forget to follow the artist on her social media!

How odd. I also always turn down music or pause audio books while trying to concentrate on driving

Most of my clothes are the same... When you find an outifit that you like, why would you only buy one and keep wearing ones you do not like on other days ?
