Hey, all you cool cats and kittens! Y’all surely can’t get enough of the wild ride of this twisted Tiger King story. I mean, 19 million US TV viewers tuned in for the first 10 days of its release, beating Stranger Things 2 with 17.5 million. And this eccentric Netflix gem has now got an almost cult following.

But who knew that there were so many untold secrets and trivia facts left offscreen altogether? Luckily, the insider reporter Robert Moor, who spent years working on exclusive interviews and spending time with the key characters, spilled it all. From Joe Exotic’s country songs to his tacit love life and all kinds of other little details, there is a thing or two that every avid TK fan has to know. By heart.

Robert wrote a feature “American Animals,” published back in September 2019, for New York magazine. It then turned into Joe Exotic Wondery podcast with new episodes coming out every Tuesday.

He has been investigating the lives of Joe Exotic and the gang since 2015, and even lived in one of Joe’s zoo trailers for five days. But at that point, Joe was already talking to the director Eric Goode on filming what’s now one of the most popular Netflix docuseries of the past few years.

In an interview with Fansided, Robert revealed what it was like being around Joe Exotic. “I don’t know if it’s possible to be both clever and dumb, but that’s kind of what he was.” In fact, Joe “almost always wriggled out of any jam that he got himself into until he got 22 years in prison.” Robert believes that Joe’s ego is to blame: “he allowed his ego to become monstrously huge, and it ended up becoming his destruction.”

It's sad that the people are the main focus here and not the animal abuse.

I agree, i felt deceived by the title. Felt there should have been much more in there about the animal abuse that took place. it felt like they were protecting Joe.

This podcast is where I first heard about this unique band of characters and Robert did an amazing job reporting or this. I was hooked into every episode and every word made a vividly clear picture. Having listened to the podcast long before there was any mention of the docuseries I went into watching it a little bias. However, they did a great job at including the major facts. I agree with Robert’s opinion about their portrayal of Joe.

Fact No 7 was in the Netflix series. I was worried what happened to fact No 3 though. :-D The fact about the cop being his limo driver is disturbing. What a messed up world they all live/lived in. As for Saff, I just assumed she was a butch woman. So he's a man, formerly a woman?

Saff is a trans man. He was born with female anatomy but feels he is male. Anything beyond that is none of anyone's business.

They all sucked, but at the end of the day I still think Joe > Carole. At least he’s where he belongs. She deserves to be in there right beside him

I've actually been to the animal rescue in the show, I went last summer for a special event, yoga with the tigers, and it was a really cool place to visit
