Man Builds Two Kitty Towers For His Cats And So Many People Want It, He’s Gonna Start Selling The Building Plans
InterviewCats are natural-born climbers and most of them enjoy being in high places. Whether it’s a high shelf or the top of the refrigerator, kitties feel really comfortable in the upper half of the room, keeping an eye on the surroundings below them with greater confidence.
Recently, Rob Coutu from Windsor, Connecticut, decided to embrace these instincts of his cats and built them two epic towers. The well-crafted structures provide them with both comfort and entertainment, and his little furballs are absolutely loving them.

“I have two cats, a red tabby and a Savannah cat,” Rob introduced his pets to Bored Panda, adding that the Savannah likes the towers so much, he has taken over both of them and doesn’t want to let the tabby use them.
It all started when Rob saw a real looking tree that someone else made. However, the BIM manager just could not get the design settled in his mind. This eventually made him return to his roots and he decided to build one he knew would be fun and practical but look sharp for both the cats and the humans as well.
“The larger tower was built last and is almost complete,” Rob explained. “It incorporates some design changes based on how the cats interacted with the first one, such as the balconies and the deck landings. The dormer came from Zach, the Savannah, always looking up inside the roof of the other one.”
The cat lover said the material cost for the project is still mounting, and currently stands somewhere around $3,500 plus the tons of labor he has put in. But everything’s worth it. “Zach has been very involved from the start. I can’t even find a word that best describes how much he loves it and how much he uses it.”
People were really impressed by Rob’s project
That is 'next level'! Those cat towers are fancier than my house!
Your cats have better house than most of us. Who can afford their own tower?
This guy could make a fortune selling many building plans - he clearly has the talent and skill to make more - the possibilities are endless. Or go all in and manufacture all or most components and sell them as kits. Well and beautifully done,.
If he's $3500 (and counting) and has spent the time this takes (I grew up a carpenter so I know just how insanely many hours this would take) and he'd have to sell them for such an outrageous price that the market would be almost zero. Even as a kit you still have to do most of the work before hand. Such is the reality of trying to make your passion your life. Reality sucks ;)
Load More Replies...There's no easy way to clean and vacuum it, imagine bits of litter falling on your head under that bridge and when it's time to grab a cat for a vet appointment, forget it, they'll outsmart you and get away every time. This wouldn't work for me, unfortunately.
They’re lovely. But the real test is whether the cats spend a chunk of time in them. Yes, there are some pictures of the cats in them, but are the the rule or the exception? I can’t tell you how many elaborate (hell, even non-elaborate) cat trees I’ve wasted money on where my cats have preferred the boxes they came in, or just avoided the whole damn thing like the plague.
The article said the savannah cat loves it so much that he tries to keep the tabby out.

How much is it renting for? I'm on a budget now with this damn virus!
