Meet Frankie, short for Frankenkitten. As you might have already noticed, Frankie’s a little different. He has four ears and had to have one of his eyes removed. However, if you told him he didn’t fit the norm, Frankie probably wouldn’t understand you. After going through everything fate threw at him, the little guy has adapted to living in the big world and his foster family is there to help when he gets a little overwhelmed.

Frankie was born with four ears under a suburban house where he was found with another sibling

“He was born under a suburban house to a feral mother,” Frankie’s owner, Georgi Anderson told Bored Panda. “He was found with one living sibling but there may have been more that did not survive. The homeowners took Frankie and his brother in for several weeks to socialize them and fatten them up before bringing them to the shelter for medical care and rehoming.”

His four ears are the first things people see in him. “He also has a very large overbite which gives his face a very angular appearance. He did come into the animal shelter with 2 eyes, but one eye had ruptured and needed removing. Frankie also has joint problems in his hind legs – his knees don’t sit properly in place, so he walks splay-legged and his knees often slide in and out of place.”

“Because of the overbite, his lower canines were piercing through the roof of his mouth. He also needs his knees operated on to stabilize the joints but I am saving the money for that, it’s quite expensive,” Georgi said. “He has also had dental work done to cut his lower canines to just a few mm above the gum line.”

“The eye removal allowed him to survive as the infection would have become septic and killed him.”

“I worked at the animal shelter at the time that Frankie came in. I was also a foster carer so I was asked to foster him for a week as he recovered from the eye removal”

“It wasn’t so much his unique look that sold him to me — it was his sweet demeanor, the way he explored his surroundings, and seek comfort from me”

“I went and saw him prior to his procedure and right away was struck by how sweet-natured he was. After a few hours of having him home in recovery, I knew he was special in a way I couldn’t quite describe.”

“The physical aspect of his condition has some impact on his everyday life. The little front ears mildly affect his directional hearing, as they almost act like little earmuffs to his proper ears. He has adjusted well to only having one eye, but I can tell his night vision is not as good as my other cats’. His legs cause him to walk splay-legged but don’t cause pain or affect the way he plays or jumps. His mouth probably is the biggest physical factor — he struggles to eat wet food because he can’t get a good grasp on it. He is on a dry food-only diet and has learned to pick kibble with his tongue and bring it into his mouth that way, rather than using his teeth.”

“A normal day for Frankie is picking different places to curl up and sleep, ambushing me every morning while I make breakfast — he likes to try and climb up my leg and then darts off like a lunatic”

“Playing with his brother Lucius Malfoy. Annoying his older siblings Minako and Toothless”
“He sleeps a bit more… a lot more. Then annoys the dogs. He is a very cheeky character”
“His personality is very cheeky, but he gets away with it because he is also very sweet. He is not overly intelligent which has been a noticed trait in some other cats with 4 ears. I doubt he would fare well outside. He would see a car and think it was something to play with. But he is so loving and affectionate and seems to sense when I have had a difficult day. I almost would say he has a doglike personality.”
Frankie is living proof that the beauty of a pet lies within it. He and his humans are lucky to have each other and something tells me everything’s gonna be just fine.

Many people have fallen in love with Frankie, including his perfect imperfections
Even though this is not what the post is about, I couldn't help but notice some of the healed scars Frankie's owner has. I'm happy they found each other and can heal together. Heartbreaking but also so uplifting to read about the positivity and happiness they've brought into each other's lives.
I'm Frankie's mum. I've always been wary of posting photos that show them, but thank you for this comment. Fortunately self harm has been out of my life for several years now, but Frankie and my other fur babies have brought me a peace and comfort that replace any of those old maladaptive habits. Animals are truly healing.
Load More Replies...What a sweetheart! The one picture shows two of them with four ears I think. Is that the sibling of Frankie? If so, does it have all of Frankie's other problems? I am so thankful that there are people like you to step up to love and care for the "special" little sweeties.
That is his brother Thorne. Frankie's mum finally got captured a few weeks after Frankie and she was pregnant again. Thorne was born with 3 others, but he was the only one to carry on the 4 eared trait. We were lucky enough to take care of him briefly while his adoptive family were away. Thorne has since lost an eye also - it appears that eye problems are part of their overall genetic condition also.
Load More Replies...Georgi Dagg: I'm so glad that you have fur babies in your life to keep you company and take care of you. Take good care of yourself, for your own health and so that you can take care of and enjoy your fur babies*! (*and the humans who are blessed enough to know you and love you)
This is so sweet. I want a cat like that (I'm really badly alergic to cats but it's worth it)
Bless you for giving him so much love. There's one picture where there are two cats and both of them look like they have four ears. Is that just an optical illusion?
Seeing Frankie all grown up is heartwarming! I think I remember seeing a story about him when he was first rescued and the solution for his eye was yet to be decided. I imagine he is a major comfort on bad days.
What an adorable floof! I’d just pick him up and cuddle him all day xxx
His coloring and markings are gorgeous!!!! In fact that's what I noticed right off and not his ears!!!!!!
First thing I noticed was his neutering mark. And I was glad. Wish more people would!
Load More Replies...If I every had a one eyed pet, I’d name him/her Wink. Also, this cat is adorable and imperfectly perfect! 😻
What a handsome cat he grew up to be! I have never seen a cat with four ears before. Fascinating to hear his sibling not only had the same ears, but lost an eye in the same way his brother did. I wish nothing but the best for this lovely family!
That kitteh is sooo CUTE!!!!! I love his lil overbite I didn’t know animals could have that! It’s strange I had a cat that looked just like frankie and she had half an ear and problems with them, missing teeth and a bad eye she couldn’t see out of. She was very tame and loved nothing more than getting cuddles!! I would adopt Frankie in a heart beat his face is just the cutest cute I ever cute!
I would think feral kitties would be less at risk of genetic abnormalities than purebreds.
With purebreds, the mutations would be noticed and in some cases, encouraged. They survive due to human intervention. Feral kittens with mutations are much more likely to die before they can pass on their genetics further.
Load More Replies...I adopted a feral kitten I found under my porch. She had no eyes. She had no problem adapting. She would run, play, and torment our dog. Lol! She passed a year ago at 17 years old. Human years!
I know of some 4eared cats. They are rescues, and love living happy lives indoors with their forever families. Love AND BIG THANK YOUS to his forever parents!❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had a cat with the overbite, but it had no eyes and regular ears. She was a good cat, but you couldn't put your hands near her mouth if they smelled like food, or she would take a bite out of them. She only lived about 2 years before she just up and died. We think she had internal issues as well.
Aaahhhhh pink toe beans!!!!!! We REALLY don't deserve animals in general I know everyone says that about dogs but animals are so pure hearted. They are not driven my greed or vengeance...unless it's an hangry chihuahua whose been on a long car ride (I've had to face that wrath). They are just such pure souls and we are lucky to share the earth with them..... boy that sounded REALLY kinda hippie dippy lol
The tattoo in the ear shows that he has been neutered, It was done under the anesthetic. Just in case people don't know. I hope they could find his mother and father and de-sex them to prevent this sort of suffering for kittens. ( before they were found )

The cutest little mutant for sure. Would want as a companion in Fallout. Nut would have trouble decide behind wich ear to scratch.
So beautiful. My question is does he hear more or better with the 4 ears. He's amazing!
He does not hear more with the extra ears, the little ones are just external. We did take an xray to see if they had any internal parts. They actually decrease his hearing a little bit, as they get in the way of sound waves travelling to his normal ears.

Has no one realized his feral mother was a discarded product test subject? That's what happens to them after they have been "experimented" on. Remember Frankie next time you buy pet food, or skin care that was animal tested.
