Jetman Yves Rossy and Vince Reffet just took formation flying to a whole new level. Equipped with jetpacks, these two insanely brave men flew alongside the Emirates A380, the world’s largest passenger aircraft over Dubai.
The airplane flew at 4,000 feet and the men were deployed from a helicopter which was hovering above the aircraft at 5,500 feet. The duo flew on both sides of the airplane before joining each other on one side.
“When you first heard about it, it was madness, but then as we worked through the process and identified the risks and all the mitigations, it became more of a challenge and opportunity to show our skills,” said Gareth LIoyd Evans, Emirates’ flight operations manager.

I don't know how they could take into account what the air currents and wind speed and direction would be once in the air. It would make a difference somehow I would think. But I know nothing about such things!
