Have you ever paused long enough to truly see the beauty and color woven into the natural world around you? Jessica Cavaliere has—and it’s the driving force behind her work as a fiber artist, art educator, and devoted animal lover. Through her art, she seeks to highlight the beauty, movement, and vibrant colors found in nature—elements often overlooked in the hustle of everyday life.
Jessica specializes in needle felting, a meticulous fiber art technique with similarities to tattooing. But instead of ink, her medium is roving—unspun wool. She describes the process as pulling small tufts of wool, much like pulling apart cotton candy. These delicate fibers are then intricately layered and embedded into a fabric backing using a barbed needle, resulting in richly textured, vibrant compositions.
Through this thoughtful and labor-intensive process, Jessica brings the essence of nature to life—one carefully felted detail at a time.
Jessica Cavaliere’s artwork is currently on exhibit in Nature’s Neighbor through September 13 at The Art Gallery at Rockefeller State Park Preserve, located at 125 Phelps Way, Pleasantville, New York. The gallery is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering visitors the opportunity to experience her work in a serene, natural setting that mirrors the themes of her art.
