All of us, at one point or another, have dreamt about finding a lost treasure box filled with excellent antique rarities that will provide us with an infinite fortune. Such wishes come and go, but some people still manage to find a real lost treasure in the most unexpected places. Of course, to each one their definition of a cache is unique, so our list includes such interesting things as ancient Viking swords, gemstones, and coins, as well as a nest of adorable baby bunnies. After all, aren't cute baby animals an unexpected treasure?

And much like with love, the most significant discoveries on our list were made when people stopped looking for them. You could spend all day dragging a metal detector across the beach, but often it is the person taking a casual stroll that happens upon the coolest stuff. At least the people on the list below would probably agree with this philosophy; each one found their own finders keepers at the most random times and in some very odd places.

Scroll down below to check out this neat list of cool things and historical finds that people happened upon while they were out and about. Don't forget to upvote your favorites on this list of interesting stuff!

Here’s what it says! (I think. Do tell if you have other suggestions!) 2 Sunday S.H.A.C. Club meeting. A good debate on next terms competition. Felt a bit bad, cold etc., so cut evening chapel and went to bed early. A prefy (prefect?) came in while I was in study asking....... about the black out. I saw to it and it was ok! Bedroom very nice too. 3 Monday Woke up in bed (not uprising) on advice of bedroom, I cut 1st lesson. Heinkle came round and took me to the sick room. Was very hungry but was only given a drink all day (blast them) Feel very empty. Evidently I have a chill. 4 Tuesday Had a very bad nights sleep, was still dreaming of meals at the Troe etc. I feel just about hollow. They seem to think that I live on thin air and drink. Oh boy! For a joint of meat. Felt a little better (except for lack of food) Had my wireless up. 5 Wednesday As usual.............breakfast. Read..........chicken for lunch............affecting my appetite.......went.......in London. 6 Thursday Woke up at 7 o’clock. Washed at 7:45 and had a pump. Listened to news. Breakfast:.......top a pepper pot. Tried to open it. No jam at all at any time. Listen to wireless mostly.

This is an authentic glass fishing float. It's common name is a fish ball. There could be a stamp on the knot, which indicates where the float originated. There is a small book offered on the net which can answer your questions. These floats are becoming difficult to find as they are not manufactured anymore.

I suspect that they are cottontails, the only rabbit species that does not burrow. Other than cottontails all rabbits nest underground. All hare species nest above ground too: it has me wondering now where cottontails are on the Lepidorae phylogenetic tree - I shall go off and be a biological nerd!

Cottontail rabbit. Born blind and with only a soft, thin coat of fur. Mothers nest in shallow holes. White spot on head disappears with age.

That's often where they're found in the spring. It's a good idea to check your lawn for little depressions before mowing especially if rabbits live in your area. Mother rabbit may cover them with some sticks or more soft grass.

Jack Rabbits are born with fur. The fur that surrounds them was pulled out by their mother's chest to make their nest warmer.

This appears to be an example of cristation, or fasciation, where a point-shaped apical meristem becomes elongated along an axis perpendicular to the normal direction of growth. The colloquial term for the phenomenon is 'cresting'.

FYI - crystals are pretty common in Arkansas. Not this size of course, but there are several places you can go to dig for crystals (and a diamond mine too). I was just there last summer and took a day digging and came back with 3 large buckets full of crystals.

Its a type of void filling where silica laiden water or calcite laden water gets into the void of a larger body and slowly fills it up depositing the quartz or calcite. If it is hollow, you know it as a geode. If its quartz and fills the void completely its called agate. If its calcite and fills the void completely, its called a vug.

Looks like my first phone(not exactly a classic brick Nokia, it is with rounder edges, just like the one shown). 7 years of loyal service before I retired it. It will still work if I recharged it and put its card back in place. A friend owned a classic Nokia he accidentally dropped from the 8th floor. It was all fine. I now have a Samsung with buttons that, much like a Nokia seems absolutely waterproof and, when dropped, just disassembles, so its pieces can be put back together and it still works. That's how phones should be made, not like those garbages most people own these days. They only work properly for like 2 years(if you don't chatter them to pieces by then) and must be recharged every day or two. Just, why? Why do people even buy them?

When I was a cashier at a Chevron service station, every so often I’d get a younger driver that would bring in Silver Dollars to pay for gas... unknowing that they are worth more than a dollar, I’d buy them from the register at the end of my shift and still have them today- that’s been since 1996. I think I have about 30 Silver Dollars stored away.

Probably a Giant clam, which measures 47 inches (120 cm) and weighs about 440 lb (200 kg). These can live 100 years, and make huge pearls. Still, even for a Giant clam, this pearl is huge.

I think this fisherman is from the Philippines. He had no idea that it was a pearl. His wife left her leaving him with his child/children? Somehow he knew later on that it was indeed a pearl. He then went to Manila carrying it with him along with his kids and they were homeless. He went to see Jessica Soho, a famous and award winning broadcast journalist, to help him discover if it is authentic or now. His story is in KMJS giant pearl of Aklan (if im not mistaken). The story has part two as-well. Not sure if it has sub tittle though.

When I was in Elementary school (eons ago) I found some of those in the crevices of a brick wall in the schoolyard. I took them home, lined a matchbox with cotton and placed the tiny eggs in there. Took care of them for weeks hoping I would be able to hatch them and get myself some pet lizards ("lagartixa", in Portuguese). It didn't happen... :´(
